The following is a list of current (as of the 2023 Major League Baseball season, 2023 season) Major League Baseball broadcasters for each individual team. Some franchises have a regular color commentator while others (such as the Milwaukee Brewers) use two play-by-play announcers, with the primary often doing more innings than the secondary. Secondary play-by-play announcers are noted by bold and the number of innings of play-by-play are listed in "Radio Broadcaster Inning Formats". In pay television, 14 teams broadcast on Bally Sports affiliates, four on NBC Sports Regional Networks affiliates and four on AT&T SportsNet affiliates. 2023 Major League Baseball Season
The 2023 Major League Baseball season is scheduled to begin on March 30, with the regular season planned to end on October 1. The 93rd All-Star Game is scheduled to be played on July 11, hosted by the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington. The postseason is scheduled to begin on October 3 and would end with a potential World Series Game 7 on November 4. The 2023 season sees the introduction of several rule changes. In an effort to create a quicker pace of play a pitch timer was introduced, while limits on defensive shifts and larger bases were also introduced. Schedule On August 24, 2022, Major League Baseball released their 2023 schedule. There are 162 games scheduled for all teams. This will be the first MLB season of a new balanced schedule in which every team will play each other at least once like in the NBA and NHL. Baltimore Orioles Radio Network
The Baltimore Orioles Radio Network comprises 39 stations in five states and the District of Columbia. Beginning in 2022, the Orioles' flagship station is once again WBAL/1090 AM and is joined by sister station WIYY/97.9 FM; a game conflict with the Baltimore Ravens sees one station carrying the Orioles, and the other the Ravens. The contract is for six years. Jim Hunter calls play by play for the majority of games, with ESPN broadcaster Kevin Brown stepping in for approximately 50 games. Hunter took the primary role calling Orioles radio broadcasts following the retirement of Joe Angel, "The Voice of the Orioles" in 2004. WIYY (97.9 FM, "98 Rock") is a commercial radio station in Baltimore, Maryland. It is owned by Hearst Communications and broadcasts a mainstream rock radio format. WIYY shares studios and offices with sister stations WBAL and WBAL-TV on Television Hill in the Woodberry section of Baltimore. WIYY's transmitter utilizes WBAL-TV's 'candlestick' antenna on the shared Television Hill candelabra tower. WBAL (1090 kHz) is a commercial AM radio station licensed to Baltimore, Maryland, and owned by the broadcasting division of Hearst Communications. Airing a news/talk radio format, WBAL broadcasts on a Class A clear-channel frequency, with 50,000 watts from a transmitter facility in Randallstown, Maryland. Listeners in and around Baltimore can also hear the station on FM translator station W268BA at 101.5 MHz. Ben McDonald
Larry Benard McDonald (born November 24, 1967) is a former Major League Baseball pitcher. The first overall pick in the 1989 MLB Draft, McDonald played for the Baltimore Orioles and Milwaukee Brewers from 1989 through 1997. Baseball career College A collegiate star at Louisiana State University who also played varsity basketball there, McDonald stands 6'7". He also led the 1988 US Olympic Team to a gold medal for baseball, winning complete games against host South Korea and Puerto Rico. During his three-year college career at LSU, McDonald twice helped his team reach the College World Series. He gave up a notable walk-off grand slam to Stanford's Paul Carey in the 1987 series. Melanie Lynne Newman (born May 27, 1991) is an American radio and television play-by-play broadcaster for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB) and national '' Friday Night Baseball'' broadcasts on Apple TV+.
