In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song. Originally, it referred to a version of a song released around the same time as the original in order to compete with it. Now, it refers to any subsequent version performed after the original. ''Modern Music from San Francisco'' is a studio album featuring the Vince Guaraldi Quartet, the Ron Crotty Trio and the Jerry Dodgion Quartet recorded in August 1955 and released on Fantasy Records in May 1956. The record is the first album to feature pianist and future ''Peanuts'' composer Vince Guaraldi leading his own quartet rather than augmenting other established groups. ''Modern Music from San Francisco'' was released as a fourteen track reissue, released on CD in 2001 by Fantasy under the name ''The Jazz Scene: San Francisco'', adding several tracks by the Charlie Mariano Sextet. James Gang
James Gang is an American rock band formed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1966. The band went through a variety of line-up changes until they recorded their first album as a power trio consisting of Joe Walsh (guitars, lead vocals), Tom Kriss (bass), and Jim Fox (drums). Dale Peters replaced Kriss on bass for the band's second and third albums. Two of the band's songs, " Funk #49" and " Walk Away", continue to be popular on classic rock and AOR stations. In late 1971, Walsh left to pursue a solo career and would later join the Eagles. The band carried on with a number of other guitarists and lead singers to replace Walsh, but it failed to produce a hit song over the course of six more studio albums. It broke up in 1977. Ferrante & Teicher were a duo of American pianists, known for their light arrangements of familiar classical pieces, movie soundtracks, and show tunes as well as their signature style of florid, intricate, and fast-paced piano playing performances. Career Arthur Ferrante (September 7, 1921, New York City – September 19, 2009), and Louis Teicher (August 24, 1924, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania – August 3, 2008, Highlands, North Carolina) met while studying at the Juilliard School of Music in New York in 1930. Musical prodigies, they began performing as a piano duo while still in school. After graduating, they joined the Juilliard faculty. Schulz comic strip ''Peanuts''. It aired from 1988 to 1989 on CBS. The first four episodes aired as a weekly series in October and November 1988; the final four episodes aired monthly from February to May 1989. Due to the nature of the events portrayed and the historical figures included — such as the Wright Brothers and George Washington — the opposite of most Charlie Brown cartoons, many adults were shown in full view along with the Peanuts gang, something that happened rarely in the animated films and specials and in only one early sequence in the comic strip. Peter Miller (born 26 May 1942, Norwich, England), also known as "Big Boy Pete", is an English singer, songwriter, recording engineer and record producer. Born in Norwich, England, he has lived in San Francisco since 1972. He is a veteran of the 1960s English pop music, starting out with a rock & roll band called the Offbeats, who recorded an EP in 1958, and joining the beat group Peter Jay & the Jaywalkers in 1961. He has toured with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and most of the rest of the British Invasion. He released one of the first English psychedelic songs ("Cold Turkey") which placed his name in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Lani Hall
Lani Hall (born November 6, 1945) is an American singer, lyricist, and author. From 1966 to 1971 she performed as lead vocalist for Sérgio Mendes & Brasil '66. In 1972 Hall released her first solo album, ''Sun Down Lady''. She may be best known, however, for providing the most recognizable (female) face and (female) vocal signature sound to Sérgio's group during her tenure there, and for her rendition of the theme song to the 1983 James Bond film, ''Never Say Never Again'', with its accompanying video, in which she prominently appears. In 1986 she was awarded her first Grammy for ''Es Fácil Amar'', as "Best Latin Pop Performance." After that year, Hall largely retired, resurfacing in 1998 with the solo album ''Brasil Nativo''.
