The Sikkim Legislative Assembly is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Sikkim. The seat of the Legislative Assembly is at Gangtok, the capital of the state. The term of the Legislative Assembly is five years, unless dissolved earlier. Presently, it comprises 32 members who are directly elected from single-seat constituencies. Reservations The constituencies of Sikkim's legislative assembly have the following reservation status: * 1 constituency (Sangha) is reserved for registered Buddhist monks and nuns from the state's monasteries. * 2 constituencies ( West Pendam and Salghari–Zoom) are reserved for people of the Scheduled Castes (SC). * 12 constituencies are reserved for people of the Bhutia-Lepcha (BL) community. * The rest of the constituencies aren't reserved. The Sikkim Legislative Assembly is the unicameral state legislature of Sikkim state in north-eastern India. The seat of the Legislative Assembly is at Gangtok, the capital of the Sikkim state. History Sikkim became the 22nd state of India by the 36th Amendment of the Indian Constitution in 1975. The Act provides that the Legislative Assembly of Sikkim shall consist of not less than thirty two members and that "the Assembly of Sikkim formed as a result of the elections held in Sikkim in April 1974 with 32 members elected in the said elections (hereinafter referred to as the sitting members) shall be deemed to be the legislative Assembly of the State of Sikkim duly constituted under the Constitution." Sikkim Lok Sabha Constituency
Sikkim Lok Sabha constituency is a Lok Sabha (lower house of the Indian parliament) constituency which covers the entire area of the state of Sikkim. Sikkim participated in its first general elections in 1977 after joining the Union in 1975. Its first member of parliament (MP) was Chatra Bahadur Chhetri of the Indian National Congress who was elected unopposed. The current MP is Indra Hang Subba, who has represented the constituency since 2019. His term is expected to end in May 2024. Gyalshing District or Geyzing District is a district of the Indian state of Sikkim. Its headquarter is Geyzing, also known as Gyalshing. The district is a favourite with trekkers due to the high elevations. Other important towns include Pelling and Yuksom. Local people also call it as ''Pallo-Sikkim'' and ''Sano-Sikkim'' commonly.
