The University of Dhaka (also known as Dhaka University, or DU) is a public research university located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest university in Bangladesh. The university opened its doors to students on July 1st 1921. Currently it is the largest public research university in Bangladesh, with a student body of 46,150 and a faculty of 1,992. Nawab Bahadur Sir Khwaja Salimullah, who played a pioneering role in establishing the university in Dhaka, donated 600 acres of land from his estate for this purpose. Dhaka National Medical College
Dhaka National Medical College is a private medical college in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was founded in 1925 as the Dhaka National Medical Institute which was then situated near Bahadur Shah Park. Following the 1972 independence of Bangladesh, the educational function of the Dhaka National Medical Institute became moribund, although the associated hospital remained active. A medical college capability was restored with the creation of the Dhaka National Medical College. It was inaugurated on 15 October 1994 and opened to its first students. CARe Medical College (CAReMC) ( bn, কেয়ার মেডিকেল কলেজ) is a private medical school in Asad Gate, Mohammadpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. CAReMC was established in 2014. The college grew out of CARe Specialized Hospital. The name CARe stands for Center for Assisted Reproduction. As of 2022, the degree awarded by CARE is not recognized by the Bangladesh Medical Dental Council. Although the certificate is given from Dhaka University, registration as a doctor is not given due to lack of approval.
