''Chaos Walking'' is a young adult fiction, young adult science fiction series written by American-British novelist Patrick Ness. It is set in a dystopian world where all living creatures can hear each other's thoughts in a stream of images, words, and sounds called Noise. ''Monsters of Men'' is a young-adult science fiction novel by Patrick Ness, published by Walker Books in May 2010. It is the third book of the ''Chaos Walking'' trilogy inaugurated two years earlier by ''The Knife of Never Letting Go''. Patrick Ness (born 17 October 1971) is an American-British author, journalist, lecturer, and screenwriter. Born in the United States, Ness moved to London and holds dual citizenship. He is best known for his books for young adults, including the ''Chaos Walking'' trilogy and ''A Monster Calls''. Ness won the annual Carnegie Medal in 2011 and in 2012, for ''Monsters of Men'' and ''A Monster Calls''. He is one of seven writers to win two Medals, and the second to win consecutively.
