Radio
Radio is the technology of signaling and communicating using radio waves. Radio waves are electromagnetic waves of frequency between 30 hertz (Hz) and 300 gigahertz (GHz). They are generated by an electronic device called a transmitter connected to an antenna which radiates the waves, and received by another antenna connected to a radio receiver. KHTK
KHTK (1140 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to Sacramento, California. KHTK broadcasts a sports radio format as "Sactown Sports 1140" and is an affiliate of the CBS Sports Radio network. It is owned by Salt Lake City–based Bonneville International, a profit-making subsidiary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The studios and offices are on Commerce Circle in North Sacramento, just north of the American River. KHTK is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for commercial AM radio stations. Because AM 1140 is a clear channel frequency reserved for Class A XEMR in Monterrey, Mexico, and WRVA in Richmond, Virginia, KHTK must broadcast with a directional antenna at all times to avoid interference, using a five-tower array. KZDG (1550 AM broadcasting, AM) is a commercial Radio broadcasting, radio station licensed to serve San Francisco, San Francisco, California, and services the San Francisco Bay Area. Owned by Factorial Broadcasting LLC, the station broadcasts a South Asian format known as "Radio Zindagi". Its transmitter facilities are located in the nearby suburb of Belmont, California, Belmont. In addition to a standard analog transmission, KZDG is available online. KMVQ-FM (99.7 MHz) is a radio station licensed to San Francisco, California. The station currently broadcasts a Top 40/CHR format branded as ''99.7 Now''. KMVQ's studios are at 2001 Junipero Serra Boulevard in Daly City, while its transmitter is located on San Bruno Mountain. KMVQ-FM is owned by Salt Lake City–based Bonneville International. KLLC (97.3 FM, Alice @ 97.3) is a commercial radio station located in San Francisco, California, broadcasting to the San Francisco Bay Area. The station is owned by Audacy, Inc. Its transmitter is off Wolfback Ridge Road on Mount Beacon in the Marin Headlands near Sausalito, California. The studios and offices are co-located with formerly co-owned KPIX-TV on Battery Street in downtown San Francisco. History The 97.3 MHz frequency signed on the air as KWBR-FM, dedicated September 14, 1947. KCBS (740 kHz) is an all-news AM radio station located in San Francisco, California. It is owned by Audacy, Inc. (formerly Entercom), which took over after its merger with CBS Radio. KCBS is the Bay Area's only 24/7, live and local radio station. KCBS shares its Battery Street studios with CBS owned-and-operated television station KPIX-TV 5. The transmitter site is located in Novato. Its programming is simulcast on co-owned 106.9 KFRC-FM plus that station's HD1 digital sub-channel. It is Northern California's primary entry point station for the Emergency Alert System. KYXY (96.5 FM) is a commercial radio station owned by Audacy, Inc. KYXY is licensed to San Diego, California, with its studios in the city's Stonecrest area. Its transmitter site is in La Jolla, on the KGTV Tower which it shares with KGTV and several other San Diego FM stations. KYXY airs an English-language mainstream adult contemporary radio format. KyXy 96.5 broadcasts in HD Radio. The programming on the station's HD2 channel is ''FlashBack ALT'', airing alternative rock music of the 1980s and 1990s.
