List Of Best-selling Albums In Spain
This is a list of the best-selling albums in Spain that have been certified by the Productores de Música de España (PROMUSICAE). PROMUSICAE is in charge of certifying records in Spain. Until October 2005, the certification levels for albums in Spain were 50,000 for Gold and 100,000 for Platinum. The current levels, however, are 20,000 for Gold and 40,000 for Platinum. Of the 20 best selling albums in Spain, Spanish artists dominate the list with fourteen entries. Two Italian artists and one artist each from the United Kingdom, United States, Cuba and Mexico complete the list. Four acts - Alejandro Sanz, La Oreja de Van Gogh, Mecano, and David Bisbal - appear more than once in the list. Alejandro Sanz tops the list with his fifth album ''Más'', selling around 2.2 million copies in the country and being certified 22 times. ''El viaje de Copperpot'' (''Copperpot's Voyage'') is Spanish pop rock band La Oreja de Van Gogh's second studio album, issued by Epic Records on 11 September 2000. It was the band's first album to feature a bonus track. ''El viaje de Copperpot'' is the band's most successful album in Spain; after going platinum on its release day, it sold more than 1,300,000 copies and received a diamond certification. Mónica Naranjo Carrasco (born 23 May 1974) is a Spanish singer widely popular in Spain and Latin America and recognised as one of the most powerful voices of the Spanish and Latin American music scenes. ''Aidalai'' is an album by pop group Mecano. It was released in 1991 and produced by the group. Its launch was in the middle of rumors of the separation of the group due to differences between Nacho Cano and José MarÃa Cano. It was their third release with Ariola Records. The title refers to a game word: Aidalai → ¡Ay Dalai!, meaning in English something like ''Oh Dalai!''. Estopa is a Spanish rock/rumba duo from Cornellà de Llobregat, Spain. Their songs "El Run Run" and "Cuando Amanece" reached number one on Billboard's chart in Spain, and "Con La Mano Levanta" reached number four. Rosana Arbelo (; full name Rosana Arbelo Gopar; born October 24, 1963), is a Spanish singer and composer. In the Spanish-speaking world, she is known professionally as simply Rosana. She was born on the island of Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, where she was raised. She was the youngest of a family of eight children. Arbelo was given her first guitar at the age of five years old and wrote her first song aged eight. She began composing music after moving to Madrid in the early 1980s.
