Recording Industry Association Of Japan
The is an industry trade group composed of Japanese corporations involved in the music industry. It was founded in 1942 as the Japan Phonogram Record Cultural Association, and adopted its current name in 1969. The RIAJ's activities include promotion of music sales, enforcement of copyright law, and research related to the Japanese music industry. It publishes the annual ''RIAJ Year Book'', a statistical summary of each year's music sales, as well as distributing a variety of other data. Headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, the RIAJ has twenty member companies and a smaller number of associate and supporting members; some member companies are the Japanese branches of multinational corporations headquartered elsewhere. Chyi Chin (; born 12 January 1960) is a Taiwanese singer, songwriter and actor. Early life Chyi was born in Taichung, Taiwan. When he was young, his father had a strict daily regimen of study that started at 5 am. His studies varied from English music and literature to classical Chinese literature and Tang dynasty poetry. Chyi, however, did not enjoy reading. When he became a teenager, his father's push for education caused a strain on their relationship. Chyi joined a local gang in defiance of his father, and landed in jail for three years as a result of his decision. During his incarceration, Chyi Chin learned to be introspective and kept a diary. F4 (Flower Four) or JVKV was a Taiwanese boy band consisting of Jerry Yan, Vanness Wu, Ken Chu, and Vic Chou. The group F4 was formed in 2001 after the Taiwanese drama '' Meteor Garden'' that they starred in was widely successful. Together they have starred in several Taiwanese drama series and released three albums, ''Meteor Rain'' (2001), '' Fantasy 4ever'' (2002), and '' Waiting for You'' (2007). Zheng Jun (; born 6 November 1967) is a Chinese rock singer-songwriter. Originally from Xi'an, he attended Hangzhou Institute of Electrical Engineering (renamed Hangzhou Dianzi University). His first album, ''Naked'' (), was released by Red Star Productions in 1994, achieving immediate success. He went on to release ''Third Eye'' three years later and ''Bloom'' two years after that. Zheng Jun won the MTV International Viewer's Choice Award for his song "1/3 Dream" in 2002, and is only one of two music artists from China to have received the international MTV award; the other being Cui Jian for "Wild in the Snow" in 1991. Fei Xiang (born Bart Hsiao Luan Phillips, known as Kris Phillips; ) is a Taiwanese American pop icon and musical singer who was one of the biggest popular music acts in China during the 1980s.
