The liquor license it amended was first issued in November 1912 (though property records show the building as being built in 1915, as a bakery) and operated nearly continuously since its opening, having been shut down briefly at times for run-ins with the law, such as when the upstairs, now a live music venue, was used as a speakeasy during Prohibition. Tobacco Road was located at 626 South Miami Avenue, on the south side of the Miami River, putting it in Miami's Brickell district, where it was classified as a classic dive bar, being popular among locals. Tobacco Road celebrated its 100th anniversary in November 2012. In 2012, the land on which Tobacco Road lies was purchased for $12.5 million. The Queen's Head (Amsterdam)
The Queen's Head is a gay bar located at Zeedijk 20 in the centre of Amsterdam. It opened in 1998 and is known for its drag queen bingo evenings. History In the 1980s Zeedijk Street was the location of significant drug use, but after this was successfully reduced the city of Amsterdam and entrepreneurs worked to revitalise the area. John Dijkmeijer saw potential in a struggling lounge bar on Zeedijk, run by his neighbour's son; the property had a basement with French doors and a view of the canal. In 1998 with his life partner Willem de Wit he took it over, so de Wit could give drag queen performances under his stage name Dusty, and The Queen's Head opened on 26 May 1998. These performances stopped in 2003, and Dijkmeijer sold The Queen's Head to Don Nottet in 2004. Arjan de Wit became co-owner in 2010 and put the café up for sale in 2014 after Nottet had a stroke and was unable to run the business. At the start of 2015, The Queen's Head was taken over by John Jepma and Leon Op ...

The Krazy Kat Klub—also known as The Kat and Throck's Studio—was a Bohemian cafe, speakeasy, and nightclub in Washington, D.C. during the historical era known as the Jazz Age. Founded in 1919 by portraitist and scenic designer Cleon "Throck" Throckmorton, the back-alley establishment functioned as a speakeasy after the passage of the Sheppard Bone-Dry Act in March 1917 by the United States Congress that imposed a ban on alcoholic beverages in the District of Columbia. Within a year of its founding, the club became notorious for its riotous live performances of hot jazz music which often degenerated into mayhem.
