Juliette Binoche is a French actress, artist and dancer who throughout her career has received several awards and nominations including one Academy Award, one BAFTA Award and a César Award. In 1993, she starred in '' Three Colors: Blue'', the first instalment of Krzysztof Kieślowski's ''Three Colours trilogy'', for this performance she was nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama and won the César Award for Best Actress (her first and only César Award to date out of ten nominations) and the Volpi Cup for Best Actress at the 50th Venice International Film Festival. Juliette Binoche (; born 9 March 1964) is a French actress and dancer. She has appeared in more than sixty feature films and has been the recipient of numerous accolades, including an Academy Award, a British Academy Film Award, a Silver Bear, a Cannes Film Festival Award, Volpi Cup and a César Award. Binoche began taking acting lessons during adolescence and, after performing in several stage productions, was cast in different films. During the 2000s, she maintained an international career, alternating between French and English language roles in both mainstream and art-house productions. In 2010, she won the Best Actress Award at the Cannes Film Festival for her role in Abbas Kiarostami's ''Certified Copy'', making her the first actress to win the European "Best Actress Triple Crown" (for winning awards at the Berlin, Cannes, and Venice film festivals). Blue
Blue is one of the three primary colours of pigments in painting, drawing (art) and traditional colour theory, as well as in the RGB colour model. It lies between purple and green on the spectrum of visible light. The eye perceives blue when observing light with a dominant wavelength between approximately 450 and 495 nanometres. Most blues contain a slight mixture of other colours; azure contains some green, while ultramarine contains some violet. The clear daytime sky and the deep sea appear blue because of an optical effect known as Rayleigh scattering. An optical effect called Tyndall effect explains blue eyes. Distant objects appear more blue because of another optical effect called aerial perspective. Blue has been an important colour in art and decoration since ancient times.
