Boes Motor & Mekanik
Boes ("Ox Tales") is a Dutch newspaper gag-a-day comic strip created by Wil Raymakers and Thijs Wilms. It was created in 1980 and spawned a popular anime television series between 1988 and 1991 called ''Ox Tales'' in the English-speaking world. The comic managed to outlive the animated adaptation and still continues to appear as a column strip in several Dutch daily and weekly newspapers. Concept "Boes" is a pantomime gag-a-day comic about an anthropomorphic ox who walks on clogs in a landscape that resembles the farm lands in the Netherlands. He works as a farmer. Many gags center around his comedic interactions with animals. While many gags are child-friendly there are also gags which have more risqué jokes involving sex, toilet humor and obscene gestures. The series has a few recurring characters who are unnamed in the comics, but received names in the animated series. They are Dolly the tortoise, Shampoo the gorilla and Saffie the dog. Lidköpings Mekaniska Verkstads AB (LMV) is an engineering manufacturer in Lidköping, Sweden. It has been a subsidiary of Motala Verkstad Group AB (MVG) since December 2019. The company was founded in 1875. It originally produced many different components and machines that were resold to the industry. They had plans for automobile production and in 1923 a prototype had been made. The design was by Åke W Eklund. The car was impressive with its low weight (475 kg) and details well suited for the bad Swedish roads of the time. The car was powered by a French four-cylinder CIMA engine with a Cozette carburettor. The car proved to be reliable, strong and with high acceleration. The plan was to have various sub-contractors making the parts for the car and then having the parts assembled at the LMV plant. LT was a Swedish car made by Anders Rudolf Lindström, Gottfrid Hansson and Simon Resare. It got its name from the initials of "Lindström and Torsby" the designer Anders Rudolf Lindström and Torsby in northern Värmland, Sweden, but it was nicknamed "Långsam tillverkning" (Swedish for "slow production"). Car production was first planned in 1909 or possibly earlier, but this first car wasn't a success. In 1923 they made a second model. It had a painted grille, raked windscreen and the design may have been inspired by French cars like the Avions Voisin. It was powered by an air-cooled, two-cylinder engine of their own design and cast at Solbergs Mekaniska in Forshaga. The engine produced 20 HP and was connected to a three-speed gearbox driving the front wheels. The chassis was made of steel tubing and the bodywork of wood veneer. Kalmar Verkstad AB (''KVAB'') was a Swedish train and automobile manufacturer in Kalmar, Sweden that made the Tjorven and Terminal. KVAB was founded in 1902 and closed in 2005 by Bombardier. History and products KVAB's core business was trains, and they built all kinds of locomotives, trams, passenger cars, freight cars for both Swedish market and export. In the mid-sixties, KVAB also produced small trucks, boats, parking decks and cars for road use. Tjorven was a small delivery van based on the DAF 44, Swedish Mail bought a lot of them for mail delivery. Kalmar Terminal was a vehicle intended to be used for transporting goods in ports between ships and railway. One odd detail was that the door was located in the front. Hult Healey was a make of kit cars in Sweden. It all started when Mats Svanberg from Hult saw an Austin-Healey ( 100 or 3000) and fell in love with it. In the 1970s he bought one and in 1981 it was due for a renovation and he wanted to make a replica of the competition Austin-Healey, but without ruining his original car, so he decided to build a copy. He called in his friend Lennart Waerme to help him. GEA (Gustaf Ericssons Automobilfabrik) was a Swedish automobile manufacturer founded by Gustaf Ericsson (son of Lars Magnus Ericsson) in 1904 in Stockholm. Originally the company was located in Arbetargatan, but later it moved to Liljeholmen. Together with his study friends from Chalmers University of Technology K G Karlsson and Erik L Magnus they had the expertise needed for the project. The company started making engines, but at first not for cars, but kerosene engines for pumps and agricultural machines. Later they also made boat engines under the name "Gurik".
