Thomas Theodore Crittenden
Thomas Theodore Crittenden (January 1, 1832 – May 29, 1909) was a United States colonel during the American Civil War, and a Democratic politician who served as the 24th Governor of Missouri from 1881 to 1885. Early life and education Crittenden was born in 1832 in Shelbyville, Kentucky to Henry and Anna Maria Crittenden. He was born into a political family and was the nephew of Kentucky Governor John J. Crittenden. He was educated at Centre College and also studied law with his uncle. Marriage and family In 1856, Crittenden married Caroline Wheeler "Carrie" Jackson (August 1, 1839 – January 27, 1917) and had several children. His son Thomas T. Crittenden, Jr. was later a mayor of Kansas City, and his son Henry Huston Crittenden (1859–1943) was compiler of ''The Crittenden Memoirs'' (1936). Elliot Woolfolk Major (October 20, 1864 – July 9, 1949) was an American lawyer and Democratic politician from Pike County, Missouri. Biography Born in 1864 in Lincoln County, Missouri, Elliot Major attended Lincoln County public schools. He then went to Watson Seminary in Pike County. After studying law, he was admitted to the bar in 1885. Major's political rise began with a seat in the Missouri Senate, which he held between 1897 and 1901. Between 1909 and 1913 he was Attorney General of Missouri. In November 1912 he was elected the new governor of his state. Major took up his new post on January 13, 1913. Several new agencies emerged in Missouri during his four-year tenure. These included the Highway Commission, a pardon committee, assistance to the blind, and a public services committee. Edward Coke Crow (December 19, 1861 – May 9, 1945) was a United States Democratic Attorney General from the state of Missouri. __TOC__ Life He was born in Oregon, Holt County, Missouri, United States on 19 Dec 1861 and was the sixth of seven children born to Elizabeth Hopkins Barnes and George Washington Crow. Crow attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and served as an attorney for Anheuser-Busch before serving as the 23rd Attorney General of Missouri from 1897 to 1905. He represented Jasper County, Missouri. Crow was also a friend and advisor to Missouri Governor Lloyd C. Stark, who served from 1937 to 1941. He was a member of the Carthage Light Guard in Carthage, Missouri. It was a very highly esteemed group and was the pride of Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri.
