City Of London Festival
The City of London Festival was an annual arts festival that took place in the City of London, England, over two to three weeks in June and July. The Festival was strongly geared towards classical music, but also offered a programme that included jazz, world music, opera, film screenings, lectures and guided tours. Performances were usually held within local venues including some of London's ornate churches, St Paul's Cathedral and Livery Company Halls. In 2016 the festival announced it was closing, stating: "However over the years the funding landscape has become ever more competitive and despite achieving support from a range of valued sponsors and supporters it has become increasingly difficult to attract the level of funding necessary to stage the annual festival." Burgess Park
Burgess Park is a public park situated in Camberwell the London Borough of Southwark, and is close to Walworth to the north, Bermondsey to the east and Peckham to the south. At , it is one of the largest parks in South London. Unlike most other parks in London, Burgess Park was carved out of a highly built-up area of the city. Virtually all the land now occupied by the park was previously used for housing, industry and transport infrastructure. Construction Houses were purchased and demolished to form the park. The idea for Burgess Park came out of the 1943 Abercrombie plan for open spaces in London, and the land has been gradually assembled and landscaped over the subsequent decades, first by the London County Council, then the Greater London Council, and since the mid-1980s, the London Borough of Southwark. The Carnaval del Pueblo is a festival celebrating Latin American culture, held in Burgess Park, London in the first week of August. The carnival features a spectacular procession of exotic floats, costumes, musicians and dancers, making their way through London Bridge, along Borough High Street, Elephant and Castle and Walworth Road, finally arriving in Burgess Park. London Motorexpo was an annual Auto show, motor show held from 1996 until 2015 in London. It was launched in 1996 as a free outdoor alternative to the British International Motor Show and the London Motor Show. Held in Canary Wharf, it was designed to allow office workers a chance to see new cars without having to take time off to visit a traditional motor show. The London Motorexpo normally took place in June, and often featured the first public viewing of new cars, though rarely concept cars as in a traditional motor show.
