Note that anime franchises with multiple television series (e.g. ''Pretty Cure'') will be listed on this page. However, anime in Japan has a practice of naming seasons under their own separate title instead of by cours (e.g. ''K-On!'' versus ''K-On!!'' etc.). Original Video Animation
, abbreviated as OVA and sometimes as OAV (original animation video), are Japanese animated films and series made specially for release in home video formats without prior showings on television or in theaters, though the first part of an OVA series may be broadcast for promotional purposes. OVA titles were originally made available on VHS, later becoming more popular on LaserDisc and eventually DVD. Starting in 2008, the term OAD (original animation DVD) began to refer to DVD releases published bundled with their source-material manga. Format Like anime made for television broadcast, OVAs are sub-divided into episodes. OVA media (tapes, laserdiscs or DVDs) usually contain just one episode each. Episode length varies from title to title: each episode may run from a few minutes to two hours or more. An episode length of 30 minutes occurs quite commonly, but no standard length exists. Doraemon (2005 TV Series)
is the most recent anime TV series based on Fujiko F. Fujio's manga of the same name. Produced by Shin-Ei Animation and Asatsu-DK, it began airing on TV Asahi on April 15, 2005. It also airs in over 50 countries worldwide. This Doraemon anime series is sometimes referred to in Asia as the Mizuta Edition (水田版), after Wasabi Mizuta, the voice actress who voices Doraemon in this series. The anime is licensed by Viz Media for broadcast rights only. An English dub produced by Bang Zoom! Entertainment aired on Disney XD in the USA as ''Doraemon: Gadget Cat From the Future'' from July 7, 2014 until May 12, 2017. A second season of the English dub premiered on Disney XD on June 15, 2015 and ended on September 1 of the same year. TV Asahi currently holds distribution and licensing rights to Doraemon. Nippon Animation

Chibi Maruko-chan
is a shōjo manga series written and illustrated by Momoko Sakura. The series depicts the simple, everyday life of Momoko Sakura, a young girl everyone calls ''Maruko'', and her family in suburban Japan in the year 1974. Maruko is a troublemaker, and every episode recounts Maruko's trouble and how she and her friends succeed in solving the situation. The series is set in the former of Irie District (入江町), Shimizu, now part of Shizuoka City, birthplace of its author. The first story under the title "Chibi Maruko-chan" was published in the August 1986 edition of the shōjo manga magazine ''Ribon''. Other semi-autobiographical stories by the author had appeared in ''Ribon'' and ''Ribon Original'' in 1984 and 1985, and were included in the first "Chibi Maruko-chan" tankōbon in 1987. is a Japanese anime television series which aired weekdays on the Fuji TV Network in Japan between October 1, 1976, and March 31, 1982, for a total of 1428 five-minute episodes.
