Mikhail Smirnovsky
Mikhail Nikolayevich Smirnovsky was a Soviet diplomat and a specialist in Soviet relations with English-speaking countries. He was first secretary of the Soviet Embassy in Washington DC in 1953, and served a second time in Washington as the minister-counselor and second-ranking officer of the Embassy at the beginning of the 1960s. Around 1963 Smirnovsky returned to the Foreign Ministry in Moscow, where he was chief of the USA section of the Ministry. In 1966 he became Soviet Ambassador to the United Kingdom (with concurrent accreditation in Malta starting in 1967), where he served until 1973. It is believed that he was later, in Moscow, a member of the Foreign Ministry's Collegium, understood to have been an advisory group of senior officers. Vladimir Ardalionovich Malygin ( rus, Владимир Ардалионович Малыгин; born 19 June 1950) is a Russian diplomat. He has served in various diplomatic roles since the 1970s, and was the Ambassador of Russia to Malta between December 2014 and October 2021. Career Malygin was born on 19 June 1950, the son of , a party worker and employee of the Soviet state security organs, who reached the rank of lieutenant general. Valentin Stepanovich Vlasov (russian: Валентин Степанович Власов; 20 August 1946 — 5 July 2020) was a Russian diplomat and politician, who served as ambassador of Russia to Malta and Kyrgyzstan. Biography Valentin Vlasov was born on 20 August 1946 in Arkhangelsk. He began his career in 1963 as a turner at the Krasnaya Kuznitsa plant. Then he served in the Soviet army. After demobilization, he worked as a turner in the Murmansk Shipping Company, a master of industrial training in the Arkhangelsk Regional Civil Defense Headquarters.
