Jaffna International Airport
Jaffna International Airport ( ta, யாழ்ப்பாணம் சர்வதேச விமான நிலையம், translit=Yāḻppāṇam Carvatēca Vimāṉa Nilaiyam; si, යාපනය ජාත්යන්තර ගුවන්තොටුපළ, translit=Yāpanaya Jātyantara Guvantoṭupaḷa) , formerly known as Palaly Airport and Jaffna Airport, is an international airport serving northern Sri Lanka. Koggala Airport
Koggala Airport ( Sinhala: කොග්ගල ගුවන්තොටුපළ ''Koggala Guwanthotupala'') in Sri Lanka was originally a Royal Air Force (RAF) Station RAF Koggala. It is now the SLAF Koggala, used for domestic flights and for military purposes. History Prior to the Second World War, the lake at Koggala was used for seaplanes. After the Japanese occupation of the Malay Peninsula in 1942, the RAF needed a new seaplane base. In March 1942 RAF Koggala consisted of forty people, one PBY Catalina flying boat and no outlet to the sea from the lagoon. Within a month more than a hundred more personnel arrived (mostly from Singapore) and construction began on establishing the water runway and the requirements for a large flying boat base. Galle ( si, ගාල්ල, translit=Gālla; ta, காலி, translit=Kāli) (formerly Point de Galle) is a major city in Sri Lanka, situated on the southwestern tip, from Colombo. Galle is the provincial capital and largest city of Southern Province, Sri Lanka and is the capital of Galle District. Galle was known as ''Gimhathiththa'' before the arrival of the Portuguese in the 16th century, when it was the main port on the island. Sigiriya Airport
Sigiriya Airport is an air force base and domestic airport located in central Sri Lanka. Located near the city of Dambulla, the airport is also known as SLAF Sigiriya. History Sigiriya Airport was first opened in 1942 as an airfield established by the Royal Air Force during World War II. A number of RAF squadrons ( 8 (1945), 160 (1943-44), 200 (1944-45), 203 (1944-45), 354 (1944)) and other units were stationed at the airfield during and immediately after the war.
