Cosmos-class Submarine
The Cosmos-class submarine, officially Cos.Mo.S MG-110 locally designated as X-Craft, are the class of midget submarines designed by the Italian firm Cos.Mo.S, in Karachi Naval Dockyard in Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. The Cosmos-class submarines are currently stationed in PNS Iqbal and are used as the SDV for the SEAL Teams of the Navy Special Service Group, since 1993. Despite classified as submarine by its builder in Karachi, the Cosmos, nonetheless, fall under the responsibility of the Naval Strategic Forces Command for planning development while the Commander of the Coastal Areas remains in charge for the operational deployments only. PNS ''Aslat'' (FFG-254) is a F-22P ''Zulfiquar''-class guided missile frigate currently in active service with the Pakistan Navy since her commission in 2013. Operational history ''Aslat''s design, construction and the steel cutting took place in KSEW, Ltd. in Karachi, Sindh in Pakistan in 2009. Her keel laying and launch ceremony took place on 16 June 2011 with Adm. Noman Bashir witnessing its ceremony. On 18 April 2013, ''Aslat'' was commissioned into the military service of the Pakistan Navy and was presented with her colors by Adm. Asif Sandila. With the commissioning of the ''Aslat'', the project of building the Zulfiquar-class guided missile frigates concluded the $750 million technology transfer contract with China. PNS ''Saif'' (FFG-253) is a F-22P ''Zulfiquar''-class guided missile frigate which serves as the front line warship of the Pakistan Navy since her commission in 2010. Operational history ''Saif'' was constructed and built in China by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard Co. where her keel laying was performed. ''Saif'' was subjected to the extensive sea trials conducted by the Pakistan Navy in China under Captain Zubair Shafiq on June-July 2010, and was acquired on 9 November 2010. On 19 September 2010, ''Saif'' was commissioned into the military services of the Pakistan Navy with Adm. Noman Bashir overseeing her commissioning ceremony in China. She is the second warship to have the name ''Saif'', which is a talwar ( ur, تلوار) or sword ( ar, سيف). Her commissioning ended the construction phase of the project in China. PNS ''Shamsheer'' (FFG-252) is the second F-22P ''Zulfiquar''-class guided missile frigate currently in active service with the Pakistan Navy since her commissioning in 2009. Operational history ''Shamsheer''s steel cutting was held at the Hudong–Zhonghua Shipbuilding in Shanghai, China on 13 July 2007– the official date of her keel laying. She was officially launched on 31 October 2008, completing a number of sea trials in China. On 19 December 2009, she was commissioned in the Pakistan Navy in China, with Adm. Numan Bashir, then- Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), sponsoring and overseeing the commissioning of the ship from China. She is the namesake of ''Shamsheer'', which means ''Sword'' and is a special type of sabre with a 5–15° curve from top to tip. PNS ''Zulfiquar'' (FFG-251) is the lead ship of the F-22P ''Zulfiquar''-class guided missile frigates since 2009. She was designed and constructed by Chinese firm, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in Shanghai, for the Pakistan Navy. The vessel's design is primarily influenced from the Type 053H3 frigate. PNS ''Tughril'' is the first of four Chinese built Type 054A/P ( Tughril-class) frigates named after Turkish emperor ordered by the Pakistan Navy. It was commissioned on 8 November 2021. Frigate
A frigate () is a type of warship. In different eras, the roles and capabilities of ships classified as frigates have varied somewhat. The name frigate in the 17th to early 18th centuries was given to any full-rigged ship built for speed and maneuverability, intended to be used in scouting, escort and patrol roles. The term was applied loosely to ships varying greatly in design. In the second quarter of the 18th century, the 'true frigate' was developed in France. This type of vessel was characterised by possessing only one armed deck, with an unarmed deck below it used for berthing the crew. The ''Tughril''-class frigates, formally classified as the Type 054A/P frigates, are a series of modified guided-missile frigates being built by Hudong–Zhonghua Shipbuilding (HDZH), for the Pakistan Navy.
