Women's National Basketball Association
The Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) is an American professional basketball league. It is composed of twelve teams, all based in the United States. The league was founded on April 22, 1996, as the women's counterpart to the National Basketball Association (NBA), and league play started in 1997. The regular season is played from May to September, with the All Star game being played midway through the season in July (except in Olympic years) and the WNBA Finals at the end of September until the beginning of October. Five WNBA teams have direct NBA counterparts and normally play in the same arena. They play in the same arena as funding is sparse due to lack of spectators. Indiana Fever, Los Angeles Sparks, Minnesota Lynx, New York Liberty, and Phoenix Mercury. The Atlanta Dream, Chicago Sky, Connecticut Sun, Dallas Wings, Las Vegas Aces, Seattle Storm, and Washington Mystics do not share an arena with a direct NBA counterpart, although four of the seven (t ...

Ameryst Alston
Ameryst Alston (born 20 June 1995) is American professional basketball player. She played college basketball for Ohio State University before being selected by the New York Liberty in the 2016 WNBA draft where she played from 2016 to 2017. High school career Alston played for Canton McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio. College career After graduating from Canton McKinley, Alston played college basketball for Ohio State University from 2012 to 2016. She was a three-time All-Big Ten First Team selection and scored 2,165 points over her four year career. Janeth dos Santos Arcain (, born April 11, 1969 in São Paulo, Brazil) is a retired Brazilian professional women's basketball player. She played in the United States for the Houston Comets in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) from 1997 to 2005. Arcain is one of the players inducted in the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame in 2015. She was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame in 2019. Jayne Appel-Marinelli (born May 14, 1988) is a retired center who last played for the San Antonio Stars of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) in 2016. Nkolika "Nicky" Nonyelum Anosike (born February 27, 1986) is an American professional basketball player in the WNBA, most recently with the Los Angeles Sparks. Personal Anosike was born in Brooklyn, New York and grew up in Staten Island where she attended St. Peter's High School for Girls. Anosike was named a WBCA All-American. Keisha Anderson is an American basketball player. As a high school senior at Park High School in Racine, Wisconsin she received Miss Wisconsin Basketball and Parade All American. Anderson received a full basketball scholarship to the University of Arizona during 1992-93 and was selected to the all-freshman Pac 10 team. She transferred to University of Wisconsin. Moving from the all-freshman Pac 10 team to First Team All Big 10, she became Wisconsin's eighth all-time in scoring, second all-time in assists and first in all-time steals.
