A computer programmer, sometimes referred to as a software developer, a software engineer, a programmer or a coder, is a person who creates computer programs — often for larger computer software. A programmer is someone who writes/creates computer software or applications by providing a specific programming language to the computer. Most programmers have extensive computing and coding experience in many varieties of programming languages and platforms, such as Structured Query Language (SQL), Perl, Extensible Markup Language (XML), PHP, HTML, C, C++ and Java. Mike Dickison
Michael R. Dickison (born ) is a New Zealand museum curator, zoologist and Wikipedia editor. He was New Zealand's first Wikipedian at Large, in 2018–19, receiving a grant from the Wikimedia Foundation. Early life Dickison grew up in Christchurch. His father was an apprentice boilermaker, and his mother was a homemaker. His father encouraged his interest in curating and collecting. Dickison gained a PhD in zoology from Duke University in 2007. His dissertation subject was the allometry of giant flightless birds. Career Dickison was curator of natural history at the Whanganui Regional Museum from 2013 to 2018. In 2015, he led an effort to mount the museum's collection of more than 2000 bones and 10 articulated moa skeletons. He became interested in Wikipedia in 2009. Florence Jacqueline Sylvie Devouard, (; born 10 September 1968) is a French Agricultural engineering, agricultural engineer who served as the chair of the Wikimedia Foundation board of trustees between October 2006 and July 2008. He is best known for pioneering studies in the field of fluorescent Molecular sensor, chemosensors and co-founding Illumina, Inc., a biotechnology company in San Diego. Scalability is the property of a system to handle a growing amount of work by adding resources to the system. In an economic context, a scalable business model implies that a company can increase sales given increased resources. MediaWiki is a free and open-source wiki software. It is used on Wikipedia and almost all other Wikimedia websites, including Wiktionary, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata; these sites define a large part of the requirement set for MediaWiki. Lee Daniel Crocker (born July 3, 1963) is an American computer programmer. He is best known for rewriting the software upon which Wikipedia runs, to address scalability problems. This software, originally known as "Phase III", went live in July 2002 and became the foundation of what is now called MediaWiki. MediaWiki's code repository was still named "phase3" until the move from Subversion to Git in March 2012. He is a co-author of the PNG specification, and was also involved in the creation of the GIF and JPEG image file formats. He invented the per-scanline variable pre-filtering compression method used by PNG, the sum-of-abs heuristic used by many encoding programs, and proposed an early version of the Adam7 algorithm, using 5 passes rather than 7. William Connolley
William Michael Connolley (born 12 April 1964) is a British software engineer, writer, and blogger on climatology. Until December 2007 he was Senior Scientific Officer in the Physical Sciences Division in the Antarctic Climate and the Earth System project at the British Antarctic Survey, where he worked as a climate modeller. After that he became a software engineer for Cambridge Silicon Radio. Connolley received national press attention over several years for his involvement in editing Wikipedia articles relating to climate change. The Bengali Wikipedia or Bangla Wikipedia ( bn, বাংলা উইকিপিডিয়া) is the Bengali language edition of Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia.
