Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, has graduated a number of athletes. Vanderbilt University
Vanderbilt University (informally Vandy or VU) is a private research university in Nashville, Tennessee. Founded in 1873, it was named in honor of shipping and rail magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt, who provided the school its initial $1-million endowment in the hopes that his gift and the greater work of the university would help to heal the sectional wounds inflicted by the Civil War. Josh Cody
Joshua Crittenden Cody (June 11, 1892 – June 17, 1961) was an American college athlete, head coach, and athletics director. Cody was a native of Tennessee and an alumnus of Vanderbilt University, where he played several sports. As a versatile Tackle (American football position), tackle on the Vanderbilt Commodores football, football team, he was a three-time All-American. In 1969, Cody was named by the Football Writers Association of America to the 1869–1918 Early Era All-American Team. He was inducted as a player into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1970. Coach Charley Moran called Cody the greatest tackle ever to play in the South. Clyde Lee
Clyde Wayne Lee (born March 14, 1944) is an American former professional basketball player who had his most success as an All-American center at Vanderbilt University, where the two-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Year was among the most heralded players in school history. He was the No. 3 overall pick in the 1965 NBA draft and a one-time NBA All-Star, playing ten seasons in the league. Dan Langhi
Daniel Matthew Langhi (born November 28, 1977) is an American former professional basketball player. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he was raised in the small western Kentucky town of Benton. In addition to his high school basketball career, where he finish as the runner-up for Kentucky's prestigious "Mr. Basketball" award, Langhi won regional titles as a member of Marshall County's soccer teams. After growing six inches during his sophomore year of high school, he joined is other brother Bob Langhi in playing college basketball, signing to play college basketball at Vanderbilt, and was drafted 31st overall by the Dallas Mavericks in the second round of the 2000 NBA Draft. John Logan Jenkins III (born March 6, 1991) is an American professional basketball player for the NBA G League Ignite of the NBA G League. Jenkins was a two-time TSSAA Class AA Mr. Basketball selection, and was the Gatorade Tennessee High School Player of the Year in 2008–09. He played college basketball at Vanderbilt. High school career As a senior at Station Camp High School, Jenkins was the nation's leading scorer for high schoolers, averaging 42.3 points per game, finishing second on the state's single-season list behind Ronnie Schmitz, who averaged 44.2 points at Ridgeway High School in 1988–89. Shan Foster
Shan Donte Foster (born August 20, 1986) is an American former professional basketball player. He played shooting guard for the Commodores college basketball team at Vanderbilt University. He is the school's all-time leader in both points and three-point baskets made, and is also among the Southeastern Conference's all-time leaders with consecutive games with a made three-pointer. Foster was selected as an Associated Press second team All-American for the 2007–2008 college basketball season. He was announced as the winner of the 2008 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award at the 2008 Final Four. Foster graduated from Vanderbilt on May 9, 2008 with a degree in human and organizational development. Festus Ezeli
Ifeanyi Festus Ezeli-Ndulue (born October 21, 1989) is a Nigerian-American professional basketball player. He previously played five seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for Vanderbilt Commodores men's basketball, Vanderbilt before being selected with the 30th overall pick in the 2012 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors. Charles Davis (basketball, Born 1958)
Charles Edward Davis, Jr. (born October 5, 1958) is an American former basketball player. A 6'7" small forward born in Nashville, Tennessee, Davis led the McGavock High School Raiders to a 25–6 record and victory in the Class AAA Tennessee State Championship in 1976. He was selected Most Valuable Player in the championship tournament. Davis starred at Vanderbilt University during the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was selected in the second round of the 1981 NBA draft by the Washington Bullets and played eight seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Bullets, Milwaukee Bucks, San Antonio Spurs, and Chicago Bulls. William Lofland Dudley
William Lofland Dudley (April 16, 1859 – September 8, 1914) was an American chemistry professor at both the University of Cincinnati and Vanderbilt University and an athletics pioneer during the Progressive Era. At Vanderbilt, he was appointed dean of its medical department. He was also once vice-president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and was notably director of affairs on the Tennessee Centennial Exposition executive committee. Early in Dudley's career, he and John Holland developed a method for refining iridium that paved the way for commercial applications of the metal. Bill Wade
William James Wade (October 4, 1930 – March 9, 2016) was an American football quarterback who played professionally in the National Football League (NFL). He is considered one of the greatest athletes in Nashville and Vanderbilt University history. Wade is a member of the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. He is best known for being the starting quarterback on the Chicago Bears' 1963 NFL championship team. College career Wade played for Vanderbilt University.
