Valiant Comics
Valiant Comics is an American comic book publisher. The company was founded in 1989 by former Marvel Comics editor-in-chief Jim Shooter along with lawyer and businessman Steven Massarsky. In 1994, the company was sold to Acclaim Entertainment. The company was restarted as part of Valiant Entertainment by entrepreneurs Dinesh Shamdasani and Jason Kothari in 2005 after Acclaim declared bankruptcy in 2004. Valiant Entertainment launched its publishing division in 2012 as part of an initiative dubbed the "Summer of Valiant", winning Publisher of the Year and being nominated for Book of the Year at the Diamond Gem Awards. Valiant has set sales records, and was the most nominated publisher in comics at the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Harvey Awards, releasing the biggest-selling independent crossover event of the decade with "Book of Death" in 2015. Rai (comics)
is a fictional superhero that appeared in books published by Valiant Comics. Rai was the first original hero created by Valiant and had its beginning as a flipbook back-up feature in ''Magnus, Robot Fighter'' #5 (October 1991), in ''Rai'' #1 (October 1991). The popularity of the flipbook back-up story later led to an ongoing series. In his original incarnation, Rai is the spirit guardian that protects the nation of Japan in the 41st century. It is a mantle that is usually passed down from father to son through the generations, with some exceptions. As such, the series chronicled a number of protagonists. A new ''Rai'' ongoing series was launched in April 2014, selling out of its initial print run. Quantum And Woody
''Quantum and Woody'' is a superhero duo from the Valiant comic book series created by writer Christopher Priest and illustrator M. D. Bright. Editor Fabian Nicieza called Priest because he wanted a buddy super-hero book similar to ''Power Man and Iron Fist''. Priest then suggested they use the artist of that series, Bright. Originally reluctant to work on this, Bright suggested they make the white character the comic relief for once. Drawing inspiration from the characters played by Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes in ''White Men Can't Jump'', they created ''Quantum & Woody''. In 2013, Valiant Comics began publishing a re-imagined version of the characters. Ninjak
Ninjak is a fictional superhero appearing in comic books published by Valiant Comics. The original incarnation of the character was created by Mark Moretti and Joe Quesada, The character was first introduced as a ninja and spy in the Valiant Comics series ''Bloodshot'' in July, 1993. His appearance in that series served to encourage interest ahead of his own self-titled series, which began in November that same year (although ''Ninjak'' vol. 1 #1 has a cover date of February, 1994). Acclaim Entertainment bought out Valiant Comics in 1996, after which Ninjak and other characters were rebooted. The Acclaim ''Ninjak'' series lasted only a year.
