Steven Lawrence (footballer)
Steven James Lawrence (born 19 May 1976) is a former Australian rules footballer. He is the son of St Kilda star Barry Lawrence. Brisbane career Debuting with the Brisbane Bears in 1995, Lawrence was a solid half back flanker who enjoyed a solid career. He came back strongly after two knee reconstructions, where he missed the entire 1996 season (and much of 1997). But he returned midway through 1997 to display incredible toughness in defence. He was, however, criticised for being a bad influence on some players with his heavy drinking and partying lifestyle. He was criticised by Jason Akermanis on '' The Footy Show'', who later said that it was "no coincidence" that after Lawrence left the club at the end of 2000, the Brisbane Lions won a premiership the next year. Matthew Ball (footballer)
Matthew Ball (born 21 February 1982) is an Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn in the Australian Football League (AFL). Ball is the elder brother of Collingwood premiership player Luke Ball and the son of former VFL footballer Ray Ball. An Ashburton junior, he was picked up by Hawthorn in the 2000 rookie draft but would be delisted without playing a senior game. After winning the best and fairest award at Box Hill in 2003, he was given a second chance by Hawthorn when they selected him at pick 51 in the end of year national draft. Ball played 13 AFL games in the 2004 season, averaging 12 disposals. For the next two seasons he was only able make another four appearances and spent most of his time with Box Hill, where he won another "best and fairest" in 2006. Luke Ball
Luke Patrick Ball (born 25 May 1984) is a former professional Australian rules football player who played for the and football clubs in the Australian Football League. From 2003 to 2009 he played 142 games for the St Kilda Football Club where he was captain in 2007 and best and fairest and All-Australian in 2005. He is one of the only players in AFL history to have played in four consecutive grand finals for two clubs; for St Kilda in 2009 and for Collingwood in 2010, the 2010 replay and 2011. Matthew Richardson (born 19 March 1975) is a former professional Australian rules footballer and current media personality who represented Richmond in the Australian Football League (AFL). On 4 March 2014, Richardson became a member of the AFL's All Australian selection committee. Background Richardson is known for his marking prowess, speed and work rate. He was the club's key forward through the mid-1990s and the 2000s. He led the club's goalkicking for thirteen seasons, and was selected in the All-Australian Team three times – in 1996, 1999 and 2008. Stephen Doyle (footballer)
Stephen Doyle (born 13 July 1981) is a South Australian Australian rules football player with the Sydney Swans of the Australian Football League (AFL). Doyle was selected by the Swans under the father-son rule in the 1999 National Draft, as his father Robert had played 77 games for South Melbourne. The tall ruckman made his debut in 2000, but recurring ankle and knee injuries meant that he did not manage to play more than three games in a row in his first four seasons. He had a relatively injury-free season in 2004, but did not stand out greatly. A knee injury in the first round in 2005 ruled him out of the rest of the Swans' premiership-winning season. In 2006, following the retirement of premier ruckman Jason Ball, Doyle arrived at the end of the season in working order. Sydney Swans
The Sydney Swans are a professional Australian rules football club based in Sydney, New South Wales. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Swans also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). The club's origins trace back to 21 March 1873, when a meeting was held at the Clarendon Hotel in South Melbourne to establishing a junior football club, to be called the South Melbourne Football Club. Paul Dimattina
Paul Dimattina (born 22 November 1974) is a former Australian rules footballer who represented in the Australian Football League (AFL). Dimattina is of Italian descent and the son of former fruiterer Frank Dimattina. Dimattina played for Richmond at Under 19 level as a 16 year in 1991 and was drafted by them with the final selection in the 1991 AFL draft. He played reserves football for them in 1992, but never played an AFL game for Richmond. During 1993 and 1994 he played for Victorian Football Association (VFA) team Sandringham, as well as some games for the Carlton and Essendon reserves teams. Drafted by the Footscray Football Club (later Western Bulldogs) with the 26th selection in the 1995 Pre-season draft, Dimattina made his AFL debut late in the 1995 season. The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Kelvin Matthews
Kelvin Matthews (born 15 December 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer. He is the brother of Leigh Matthews, whom he played with at Hawthorn Football Club, Hawthorn. Kelvin was a centreman and was a member of the Hawks' 1976 VFL Grand Final, 1976 premiership side. Slightly smaller than his brother, Kelvin was heavier and skilful enough to represent Victoria Australian rules football team, Victoria in an interstate game in 1974. In a match against Fitzroy Football Club, Fitzroy in 1977 VFL season, 1977, Kelvin kicked eight goals and Leigh six.
