List Of VDQS Wines
The following is a list of French wines that were entitled to use the designation Vin Délimité de Qualité Supérieure (VDQS) on their label, which was the second highest category out of four. The VDQS category was abolished by December 31, 2011, when the number of categories for French wine were reduced four to three as part of a general overhaul of the European Union-wide classification of wine. Then-existing VDQS wines were either promoted to AOC/AOP status or demoted to Vin de pays/IGP status. Bugey Wine
Bugey wine is produced in the Bugey region in the Ain département of France, under the two VDQS designations Bugey and Roussette du Bugey. Béarn Wine
The Béarn (; ; oc, Bearn or ''Biarn''; eu, Bearno or ''Biarno''; or ''Bearnia'') is one of the traditional provinces of France, located in the Pyrenees mountains and in the plain at their feet, in southwest France. Along with the three Basque provinces of Soule, Lower Navarre, and Labourd, the Principality of Bidache, as well as small parts of Gascony, it forms in the southwest the current ''département'' of Pyrénées-Atlantiques (64). Georgi Petrovich Vins (russian: Георгий Петрович Винс; August 4, 1928 Blagoveshchensk, Russian SFSR – January 11, 1998 Elkhart, Indiana) was a Russian Baptist pastor persecuted by the Soviet authorities for his involvement in a network of independent Baptist churches. Following an agreement between Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev and U.S. President Jimmy Carter, Vins and his family were expelled from the Soviet Union in 1979 with a group of other dissidents ( Alexander Ginzburg, Eduard Kuznetsov, Mark Dymshits and Valentin Moroz) in exchange for two convicted spies, Rudolf Chernyaev and Valdik Enger. Tursan
Tursan, first a Vin délimité de qualité supérieure (VDQS) for wine in South West France since 1958 (decree of 11 July 1958, last modified 26 February 2003), has been granted AOC status in 2011. Presentation Its production zone covers potentially 4,000 hectares (although less than 500 hectares of it is covered by vineyards). It lies 35 km south-east of Mont-de-Marsan and covers 39 communes of the département Landes, 2 communes of Gers, and the area of Adour, between the Landes and Béarn. It can be produced as white, rosé or red wine. * Red Tursan is produced with Tannat (40% maximum), Cabernet franc and Cabernet sauvignon. * White Tursan is composed of Baroque (30 to 90%), de Gros manseng and Sauvignon blanc (roughly 10%). * Rosé Tursan is based on Cabernet franc and Cabernet sauvignon. Saint-Mont (; oc-gsc, Sent Mont) is a commune in the Gers department in southwestern France. Geography Population Saint-Mont wine Wines are produced under the VDQS designation Saint-Mont and the area's vineyards are part of the South West France wine region. This VDQS, created in 1981, was previously called Côtes de Saint-Mont, before the name was changed in 2007. In 2011, following the abolition of the VDQS system, the wine was granted AOP status. The vineyards have a surface of 1200 hectares, the VDQS designation is only valid for delimited vineyards where red, rosé and white wines are produced. For red and rosé wines: Tannat, Fer, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc. For white wine: Arrufiac, Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng, Courbu, Clairette Blanche.
