Isaac Alfie
Isaac Alfie Stochek (born 27 April 1962) is a Uruguayan economist, accountant and politician of the Colorado Party, serving as head of the Office of Planning and Budget since 1 March 2020. He previously served as Minister of Economy and Finance during the final years of Jorge Batlle's presidential term (2003-2005). Early life Isaac Alfie Stochek was born in the ''barrio'' Palermo, Montevideo into a Jewish family. His father was a public employee and her mother a commercial employee. His paternal family was militant of the Colorado Party, while the maternal one was originally of the socialist Emilio Frugoni. Career Alfie graduated from the University of the Republic in 1984 with a degree in public accounting and years later, he obtained a degree in economics from the same college. Carlos Vegh (Johns Hopkins)
Carlos A. Végh (born August 1, 1958) is a Uruguayan academic economist who, since 2013, is the Fred H. Sanderson Professor of International Economics at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and holds a joint appointment with Johns Hopkins' Department of Economics. He is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research since 1998. He was the World Bank's chief economist for Latin America and the Caribbean from February 1, 2017 to June 30, 2019, while on leave from Johns Hopkins. He was previously a professor of economics and vice-chair of undergraduate studies at UCLA (1996-2005) and professor of economics at the University of Maryland (2005-2013). Alejandro Végh Villegas (17 October 1928 – 13 March 2017) was a Uruguayan politician. Background Villegas was born in Brussels. His great-grandfather Sándor Végh was a Hungarian military officer who migrated to Uruguay in the mid-19th century. And his mother was a great-grandchild of President Joaquín Suárez. He has been a prominent business leader in Uruguay. His father, Carlos Végh Garzón, was Economy Minister in 1967. Daniel Olesker (born August 23, 1952 in Montevideo) is an Uruguayan politician of the Socialist Party – Broad Front. He served as Minister of Social Development from 2011 to 2015 and as Minister of Public Health between 2010 and 2011. Since February 15, 2020, he has served as Senator of the Republic. Biography Early life and education He was born to a Jewish family on August 23, 1952. His father, Bernardo Olesker was honorary president of the Zionist Organization of Uruguay.
