Dianne Feinstein
Dianne Goldman Berman Feinstein ( ; born Dianne Emiel Goldman; June 22, 1933) is an American politician who serves as the senior United States senator from California, a seat she has held since 1992. A member of the Democratic Party, she was mayor of San Francisco from 1978 to 1988. Born in San Francisco, Feinstein graduated from Stanford University in 1955. In the 1960s, she worked in local government in San Francisco. Feinstein was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 1969. She served as the board's first female president in 1978, during which time the assassinations of Mayor George Moscone and City Supervisor Harvey Milk by Dan White drew national attention. Feinstein succeeded Moscone as mayor and became the first woman to serve in that position. During her tenure, she led the renovation of the city's cable car system and oversaw the 1984 Democratic National Convention. Milton Latham
Milton Slocum Latham (May 23, 1827 – March 4, 1882) was an American politician, who served as the sixth governor of California and as a U.S. Representative and U.S. Senator. Latham holds the distinction of having the shortest governorship in California history, lasting for five days between January 9 and January 14, 1860. A Lecompton Democrat, Latham resigned from office (the second governor to do so) after being elected by the legislature to fill the U.S. Senate seat left vacant by the death of Henry P. Haun. Biography Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1827, Latham was educated in classical studies at Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania, graduating in 1845. Following his graduation, Latham moved to Russell County, Alabama, working briefly as a school teacher while studying law. Henry Haun
Henry Peter Haun (January 18, 1815 – June 6, 1860) was a California Judge, farmer, and U.S. Senator from California. He was appointed by Governor John B. Weller to serve out Senator David C. Broderick's term following his predecessor's death in a duel. Early life Henry P. Haun was born on January 18, 1815 to John Haun and wife Katherine Winter Haun at Haun's Mill near Lexington, Kentucky. He graduated from Transylvania University and was admitted to the bar in 1839. Personal life On October 27, 1848, he married a cousin, Catherine Haun. They had two children, Kate (b. 1851) and David Rose (b. 1853). Career Haun was elected as the Prosecuting Attorney of Scott County, Kentucky. He then moved to Clinton County, Iowa to start a practice with his brother, W. G. Haun.
