''The Kenny Everett Video Show'' (later renamed ''The Kenny Everett Video Cassette'') was a British television comedy and music programme produced by Thames Television for the ITV network from 3 July 1978 to 21 May 1981. "The Man with the Child in His Eyes" is a song by Kate Bush. It is the fifth track on her debut album ''The Kick Inside'' and was released as her fourth single, on the EMI label, in 1978. Overview Bush wrote the song when she was 13 and recorded it at the age of 16. It was recorded at AIR Studios, London, in June 1975 under the guidance of David Gilmour. She has said that recording with a large orchestra at that age terrified her. The song was Bush's second chart single in the United Kingdom where it reached number six in the summer of 1978. In the United States, the single was released in December of the same year. It became her first single to reach the ''Billboard'' pop singles chart, peaking at number 85 early in 1979. Yellow Dog (band)
Yellow Dog was a British based rock band from the 1970s. Founded by the American songwriter Kenny Young, who had previously been a founder member of Fox, the band enjoyed a solitary Top 10 hit in the UK Singles Chart in 1978 with "Just One More Night". The single was written and produced by Young. It ends on a humorous note with a telephone call in which the protagonist (a woman) continues to beg to be allowed to stay "just one more night" after being told emphatically "No!", and for this reason is considered something of a novelty song. Darts are a nine-piece British doo-wop revival band that achieved chart success in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The London-based band had a number of UK top 20 hits including three successive number twos with revivals of early US rock and roll, R&B and original songs. History Founded in 1976, by Den Hegarty along with Griff Fender (real name: Ian Collier), Rita Ray (real name: Lydia Sowa) and Horatio Hornblower (real name: Nigel Trubridge), all former members of the band Rocky Sharpe and the Razors (pre-Rocky Sharpe and the Replays). Oh Boy! (TV Series)
''Oh Boy!'' was the first teenage all-music show on British TV, airing in 1958 and 1959. It was produced by Jack Good for ITV. Synopsis Good had previously produced ''Six-Five Special'' for the BBC Television, but wanted to drop the sport and public-service content from this show and concentrate on the music. The BBC would not accept this, so Good resigned. ABC Weekend TV allowed Good to make two pilot all-music shows, which were broadcast on the ITV network, 10.50-11.20pm, on Sunday 15 and Sunday 29 June 1958. These pilots were successful, so the programme was given an ITV slot on Saturday evenings, from 6.00pm – 6.30pm, in direct competition with ''6.5 Special'', but starting slightly earlier. The hosts were Tony Hall, a jazz record producer and critic, and Jimmy Henney, and the artists covered a broad spectrum of music including ballads, jazz, skiffle and rock and roll. "Slippin' and Slidin' (Peepin' and Hidin')" is a R&B/rock 'n' roll song performed by Little Richard. The song is credited to Little Richard, Edwin Bocage (Eddie Bo), Al Collins, and James Smith. Al Collins first recorded "I Got the Blues for You" in 1955. Eddie Bo wrote new lyrics and adapted the song in 1956 under the name "I'm Wise". Bo's recording was released by the Apollo label. Little Richard recorded it the same year, and changed the title to "Slippin' and Slidin. His version is on his first album, ''Here's Little Richard''. Dickie Pride (born Richard Charles Kneller; 21 October 1941 – 26 March 1969) was an English singer. He was one of Larry Parnes' stable of pop music stars, who didn't achieve the same successful career as some of his contemporaries. Early life Pride was born on 21 October 1941, at 74 Parchmore Road, Thornton Heath, Surrey, now in Croydon. He attended John Newnham Secondary School in Addington before visiting the Royal School of Church Music in Croydon, where a career as an opera singer was suggested. Later on, Pride was a member of a skiffle group, the Semi-Tones. When Pride was 15 years old, his father died. He took on several menial jobs to help support the family.
