Taiwanese Drama
Taiwanese drama (, also known as T.W. drama) refer to dramatic programming of television programming extended stories usually dramatizing relationships through the general range of ten to forty one-hour episodes. They are produced in Taiwan and have gained increasing popularity in the Mandarin-speaking community internationally. The term "Taiwanese drama" is applied to Taiwanese miniseries in general, even including those with greater elements of comedy than of drama. Origins and range of popularity During the rapid development of the Four Asian Tigers, the success of the Hong Kong entertainment industry and its TV drama programming served as a major influence for television and entertainment programming in the other rapidly-industrializing Asian nations, most notably Taiwan and South Korea. Ken Chu
Ken Chu () is a Taiwanese singer, composer, actor, cook; and a member of Taiwanese Mandopop vocal quartet boy band F4. Educated in Singapore (Boon Lay Secondary School), he speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English. Biography Chu was working as a waiter in Taiwan when he was discovered by Cai Zhiping, the creator of the boy band F4. He started in showbiz working as a part-time as an assistant for some artists, then acting in several idol series successfully which pushed him to the center of the stage. He starred in the TV series, ''Meteor Garden'', its supplementary mini-series, ''Meteor Rain'', and its sequel, ''Meteor Garden II''. He was the lead in ''Sky of Love'' (2003) and ''Tokyo Trial'' (2006). In January 2005, he released his debut solo album, ''On Ken's Time''. 5566 was a Taiwanese boy band, formed under Taiwanese music company, J-Star. The name is derived from their original five members (Zax Wang, Jason Hsu, Sam Wang, Rio Peng and band leader Tony Sun), working in six entertainment fields (singing, movies and dramas, hosting, modelling, commercials, and dancing). Over the course of their career, they have starred in three idol dramas: ''My MVP Valentine'', '' Westside Story'', and '' Mr. Fighting''. Angela Zhang (; born 19 January 1982), also known as Angela Chang, is a Taiwanese singer and actress. Zhang has released ten studio albums as of 2020. ''My MVP Valentine'' () is a 2002 Taiwanese romantic sports teen drama based loosely on two Japanese manga series: ''Slam Dunk'' and ''MVP wa Yuzurenai! (MVPは譲れない!；Can't Give up MVP!)''. Starring Chinese Taipei basketball star Johnny Yen Hsing-su (who led the 2003 FIBA Asia Championship in assists), it enjoyed huge success throughout Greater China and Southeast Asia. ''Meteor Garden II'' () is a 2002 Taiwanese drama starring Barbie Shu and F4: Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Vanness Wu, and Ken Chu. While it is a sequel to the 2001 television series '' Meteor Garden'', which is based on Japanese shōjo manga series , ''Meteor Garden II'' is an original series that is not based on the manga. Will Liu (; born 7 October 1972) is a Taiwanese singer, dancer and composer. Background He is well known for his album ''Caihong Tiantang'' (彩虹天堂; "Rainbow Heaven") and is known as good friends with Taiwanese artists Jay Chou and Show Lo. Liu's second album: ''City of Angels'' (天使之城) was released on 18 May 2007. There are 11 new songs including "幸福的距离" in this album. Almost all the songs are written by him personally. Liu appeared in the movie ''Initial D'' (頭文字D, 23 June 2005), playing a minor role as an obnoxious professional racer, complete with outlandish dreadlocks, who picks and loses a street race with the protagonist, played by Jay Chou. Edward Ou () was born on 16 October 1980 in Taiwan. He is a Taiwanese actor and TV host. He graduated from Taipei Hwa Kang Arts School in 1998. Wu Chin-yi (; born March 4, 1968), better known as Annie Yi () or Annie Shizuka Inoh ( ja, 伊能 静, Inō Shizuka), is a Taiwanese singer, actress, and writer. Early life and education Wu Chin-yi () was born on March 4, 1968 in Taipei, Taiwan, the youngest of seven daughters of Yang Shu-wan () and Wu Min ().
