TV5 (also known as 5, and formerly known as ABC) is a Philippine free-to-air television and radio network owned by MediaQuest Holdings, a multimedia arm of Philippine-based telecommunications company PLDT. It is the flagship property of TV5 Network, Inc. Headquartered on TV5 Media Center, Reliance, Mandaluyong City, with its original studios and transmitter located in Novaliches, Quezon City. Television in the Philippines was introduced in October 1953 upon the first commercial broadcast made by Alto Broadcasting System (now ABS-CBN), making the Philippines the first Southeast Asian country and the second in Asia to do so. Even before that, during the late 1940s, a number of academic experiments had been done and replicated by Filipino engineers and students. From 1975 to 1978, the Sinag Awards were given by the Philippine Academy for Television Arts and Sciences (PATAS). The Star Awards for Television are the oldest existing television awards in the country; they are handed out annually by the Philippine Movie Press Club and are voted by the press. ''Sapul sa Singko'' (English: Bullseye on Five), formerly ''Sapul'' (English: Bullseye) was TV5’s daily morning show. The two-hour program premiered on April 5, 2010, as ''Sapul'' and due to its widespread success and viewership, it was expanded to a three-hour program on October 25, 2010, and rebranded as ''Sapul sa Singko''. Originally anchored by Paolo Bediones, Cheryl Cosim and Erwin Tulfo it premiered on April 5, 2010, on the network's evening line up replacing '' TEN: The Evening News''.
