List Of St. Louis MetroLink Stations
MetroLink is a light rail system that serves the Greater St. Louis area in the United States. The system has two lines and is operated by Metro Transit, an enterprise of the Bi-State Development Agency. MetroLink currently has 38 stations; 13 are served only by the Red Line, nine only by the Blue Line, and the other 16 by both lines. Thirteen stations are located in the City of St. Louis; 14 in St. Louis County; and 11 in St. Clair County, Illinois. Central West End is the busiest station by daily ridership, Sunnen is the least busy. The first segment opened on July 31st, 1993 between the North Hanley and 5th & Missouri stations. The remainder of this initial alignment was completed on June 25th, 1994 when the extension to Lambert Airport Main opened. Three infill stations have been added to this original alignment. Scott Air Force Base
Scott Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base in St. Clair County, Illinois, near Belleville and O'Fallon, east-southeast of downtown St. Louis. Scott Field was one of thirty-two Air Service training camps established after the United States entered World War I in April 1917. It is headquarters of Air Mobility Command (AMC), and is also the headquarters of the U.S. Transportation Command, a Unified Combatant Command that coordinates transportation across all the services. The base is operated by the 375th Air Mobility Wing (375 AMW) and is also home to the Air Force Reserve Command's 932d Airlift Wing (932 AW) and the Illinois Air National Guard's 126th Air Refueling Wing (126 ARW), the latter two units being operationally gained by AMC. Mascoutah
Mascoutah is a city in St. Clair County, Illinois, United States, named for the Mascoutens, a tribe of the Michigan Indians. The population was 7,483 at the 2010 census. According to the US Census Bureau, the population was estimated at 7,994 in 2019. History The town of Mascoutah was originally established in 1837 as Mechanicsburg. This was disputed with the establishment of a Post Office; the inhabitants were informed that another township in Illinois was already named Mechanicsburg. The town was renamed after the Mascouten tribe, and was officially designated Mascoutah in 1839. Mascoutah was considered a progressive town near the turn of the 20th century. The town saw steady growth thanks to the construction of a train depot in 1870, courtesy of the Southern Railway Company. The largest Turner Hall in Southern Illinois was established in Mascoutah in 1873 which served as the center of town social life, and the town constructed its own citizen owned power plant in 1894. ... The Red Line is the older and longer line of the MetroLink light rail service in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. It serves 29 stations across three counties and two states in Greater St. Louis. History Transit planning along the Airport/Central Corridor began as early as 1971, when it was selected as the region's primary target for further study. In 1983, funding was approved to evaluate five mode alternatives, which culminated in a 1984 draft environmental impact statement. After a series of public hearings, the East–West Gateway Council of Governments, a council composed of the region's local governments, adopted light rail as the preferred mode alternative.
