This is a list of seasons played by Sporting Cristal in Peruvian and South American football, from 1951 (the year of the club's first participated in the Peruvian Primera División) to the most recent completed season. Sporting Cristal was founded in December, 1951, in the Rímac district by engineer Ricardo Bentín Mujica and his wife Esther Grande de Bentín, owners of the Peruvian brewery Backus and Johnston. The club has won the Peruvian Primera División twenty times, has finished as Copa Libertadores runner-up once, and has never been relegated from Peru's top division. This list details the club's achievements in all major competitions, and the top scorers for each season (where the information is available). Sporting Cristal
Club Sporting Cristal S.A. is a Peruvian sports club located in the city of Lima, best known for its association football, football team. It was founded on 13 December 1955 in the Rímac District, Rímac district by engineer Richard Bentín Mujica and his wife Esther Grande de Bentín, stockholders of the Peruvian brewery Backus and Johnston. The club and the brewery have been closely linked since its inception, and it is for this reason that it is popularly known as ''los Cerveceros'' ("the brewers"). 1971 Copa Libertadores
The Copa Libertadores 1971 was the 12th edition of the Copa Libertadores, CONMEBOL's annual international club tournament. Nacional won the competition. The participating teams were divided into five groups, in which teams of the same country were placed in the same group. Each country was represented by two teams. The 1971 Torneo Descentralizado was the 55th season of the highest division of Peruvian football. The number of teams increased from 14 to 16 teams as four teams gained promotion. 1970 Torneo Descentralizado
The 1970 Torneo Descentralizado was the 54th season of the highest division of Peruvian football. Torino and SIMA made their debut in the first division this season. The national champion was Sporting Cristal while SIMA and Grau were relegated. Competition modus The season was divided into two phases. In the first phase the 14 teams played each other twice playing at least one home match and one away match. The teams that finished in first to seventh place advanced to the championship group which contested the national title. The teams that finished in eighth to fourteenth place advanced to the relegation group where they determined the two teams that would be relegated from the division. The 1969 Torneo Descentralizado was the 53rd season of the highest division of Peruvian football. Despite being relegated at the end of the 1968 season, Carlos A. Mannucci returned to the first division through the 1969 Copa Perú. The format of the season changed from the previous season. The season was divided into two phases. In the first phase, the fourteen teams played each other once. In the second phase, the teams were divided into two groups. Teams in first to sixth place were grouped into a championship group while teams in seventh to fourteenth place were grouped into a relegation group. The 1968 Copa Libertadores was the ninth edition of the Copa Libertadores, South America's premier association football competition. It was played between January 27 and May 16. A record 21 teams participated in this edition. Juan Aurich
Club Juan Aurich S. A., commonly known as Juan Aurich, is a professional football club based in Chiclayo, Peru. The original Juan Aurich club was founded in 1922, this incarnation however was founded in 2005; they play in the Torneo Descentralizado where they have been playing since attaining promotion when they won the 2007 Copa Perú. They play their home games at the Estadio Elías Aguirre. Although the current Juan Aurich has played for only a few years in the top-flight, three other football clubs named Juan Aurich have played in the Torneo Descentralizado. The first Juan Aurich was founded in 1922 and played in the first division between 1967 and 1983 and again between 1988 and 1991. The 1968 Torneo Descentralizado was the 52nd season of the highest division of Peruvian football. Carlos A. Mannucci of Trujillo made its debut in the first division in this season. Sporting Cristal and Juan Aurich were tied on points at the end of the season. An extra match was played to determine first place and consequently the champion of the season. Sporting Cristal won the play-off and became national champions. At the bottom of the league, Centro Iqueño and Mariscal Sucre tied on points, sharing thirteenth and fourteenth place. Although Alfonso Ugarte de Chiclín and Octavio Espinosa were relegated last season, they regained promotion to the first division through the 1967 Copa Perú which was played prior to the start of the first division.
