The list of Scott Christian College pupils, featuring members of the University of Cambridge, are segregated in accordance with their fields of achievement. Scott Christian College
Scott Christian College is an autonomous, co-educational, arts and science college in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. Run by the Diocese of Kanyakumari of the Church of South India, the college is graded "''A''" under National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) rankings in India and is rated 5-star. The college is one of the oldest colleges in the present-day Tamilnadu state and one of the first to be started in the erstwhile princely state of Travancore. The alumni of the college are called Scottians. History The college had its origins in a village-church school founded in 1809 at Mylaudy by the Revd William Tobias Ringeltaube, the pioneering missionary of the London Missionary Society in South Travancore. This Central School or Seminary was shifted to Nagercoil in 1818 by the Revd Charles Mead. Subbayya Sivasankaranarayana Pillai (5 April 1901 – 31 August 1950) was an Indian mathematician specialising in number theory. His contribution to Waring's problem was described in 1950 by K. S. Chandrasekharan as "almost certainly his best piece of work and one of the very best achievements in Indian Mathematics since Ramanujan". Biography Subbayya Sivasankaranarayana Pillai was born to parents Subbayya Pillai and Gomati Ammal. His mother died a year after his birth and his father when Pillai was in his last year at school. Pillai did his intermediate course and B.Sc Mathematics in the Scott Christian College at Nagercoil and managed to earn a B.A. degree from Maharaja's college, Trivandrum. Dr. Samuel Paul (11 April 1930 – 26 October 2015) was an Indian scholar, economist, former visiting professor at Harvard Business School, advisor to the World Bank and the UN Commission on Transnational Corporations, and was a professor and the second director of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. He served from 8 September 1972 to 30 June 1978. He also taught at the Kennedy School of Government and the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Affairs, Princeton University.
