Kenny is a surname, a given name, and a diminutive of several different given names. In Ireland, the surname is an Anglicisation of the Irish ''Ó Cionnaith'', also spelt ''Ó Cionnaoith'' and ''Ó Cionaodha'', meaning "descendant of Cionnaith". Darvin Edwards (born 11 September 1986) is a Saint Lucian competitor in men's High Jump. Darvin was born in Castries. Darvin holds the St Lucia National Record for men's High Jump. His career best mark of 2.31m, in Daegu, South Korea at the 2011 IAAF World Championships in Athletics is also the record for the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States. Biography Early years Darvin attended St Aloysius RC Boys School and then Entrepot Secondary School in Castries. At the latter institution, he was introduced to the High Jump event by coach Gregory Lubin. In 2004, Darvin won the under-20 men’s High Jump at the CARIFTA Games in Hamilton, Bermuda, clearing 2.06m on the opening day. Justin Louis Devaux
Sir Justin Louis Devaux (1884– 2 February 1943) was a St Lucian lawyer and colonial judge. Born in St Lucia in the West Indies, Devaux was educated at St Mary's College, Castries. He then studied law at Lincoln's Inn, London, where he was "called to the bar" in 1906. He moved to Canada and practised law in Winnipeg from 1906 to 1916 before returning to St Lucia and joining the Colonial Civil Service. After working for a time as a magistrate, he was sent to the Seychelles in 1919 as a legal advisor. By 1924 he had been elevated to Chief Justice and labelled ''Tiboulon'' (Little Bolt) by the locals on account of his stature and large hat. When a new Governor, Sir Malcolm Stevenson, died shortly after arrival in 1927, Devaux, as Chief Justice, took over as acting Governor. Nicole David is a soca music artist from Saint Lucia. She is referred to as "St. Lucia's Queen of Soca" and was a member of the soca band DN5. She is now the lead vocalist of the band Spectacle. Carnival competition record Nicole won the roadmarch during St Lucia Carnival 2005 with her song "Bounce". She placed third on two occasions in the St Lucia Soca Monarch competition (2004 and 2005), but decided not to participate in the competition in 2006. Suzie D'Auvergne
Suzie Agnes-Ida d'Auvergne (1942 – 18 August 2014) was a Saint Lucian barrister and jurist. She was a High Court Judge of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court from 1990 to 2004. D'Auvergne obtained a law degree at the University of London in 1972. She began her private law practice in 1975 and became a magistrate in 1979. She was Director of Public Prosecutions from 1982 to 1988 when she was appointed the first Solicitor General of Saint Lucia. In 1990, d'Auvergne was appointed a High Court Judge of Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court. She retired in 2004. She was also a judge of the International Labour Organization Administrative Tribunal. D'Auvergne received the Saint Lucia Medal of Honour for outstanding service in the cause of justice in 2004. John Compton
Sir John George Melvin Compton, (29 April 1925 – 7 September 2007) was a Saint Lucian politician who became the first Prime Minister upon independence in February 1979. Having led Saint Lucia under British rule from 1964 to 1979, Compton served as Prime Minister three times: briefly in 1979, again from 1982 to 1996, and from 2006 until his death in 2007. He cofounded the conservative United Workers Party (UWP) in 1964; he led the party until 1996, then again from 2005 to 2007. Allen Michael Chastanet (born 20 November 1960) is a Saint Lucian businessman and politician who served as Prime Minister of Saint Lucia from 2016 to 2021. He is currently the Opposition Leader of Saint Lucia and the political leader of the United Workers Party as well as the parliamentary representative for Micoud South constituency. Johnson Charles (born 14 January 1989) is a St Lucian international cricketer who plays for the West Indies. As a wicketkeeper-batsman, Charles started his ODI career against Australia in March 2012.
