An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams, playing competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels. Conferences often, but not always, include teams from a common geographic region. Australian rules football The AFL Women's competition used a non-geographic conference system in 2019 and 2020. The league was divided into two conferences, based on ladder position in the previous season. Jerry Michael Glanville (born October 14, 1941) is an American football coach who is the head coach of the Alabama Airborne of Major League Football. He played football at Northern Michigan University in the early 1960s, and is a former NASCAR driver and owner, and sportscaster. He served as head coach of the Houston Oilers from 1986 to 1990 and the Atlanta Falcons from 1990 to 1994, compiling a career National Football League (NFL) record of 63–73. Ron Stratten
Ron Stratten (born 1943) is a former American football coach. He served as the head football coach at Portland State University team from 1972 to 1974. He compiled an overall record of 9–24 in three seasons. Stratten was one of the first African American head football coaches at a university with a majority white enrollment. Stratten resigned after three seasons due to the team's poor performance. He was succeeded by Mouse Davis, the offensive coordinator he had hired a year earlier. After leaving coaching, he worked for the NCAA's education services division, and is now Head of Innovation at StrataSoles Enterprises, based in San Diego County, California. Timothy Edward Walsh (born December 16, 1954) is an American football coach, who is currently the head coach at Santa Margarita Catholic High School. He served as the head football coach at Sonoma State University from 1989 to 1992, Portland State University from 1993 to 2006, and California Polytechnic State University from 2012 to 2019, compiling a career college football coaching record of 176–148. Pokey Allen
Ernest Duncan "Pokey" Allen Jr. (January 23, 1943 – December 30, 1996) was a gridiron football player and coach in the United States and Canada. He played college football for the Utah Utes before going on to play professionally for the BC Lions and the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL) in the 1960s. Allen began a coaching career after retiring as a player in 1968. His early assistant and position coaching jobs included several NCAA football teams and the Los Angeles Express of the United States Football League.
