Pixar Animation Studios
Pixar Animation Studios (commonly known as Pixar () and stylized as P I X A R) is an American computer animation studio known for its critically and commercially successful computer animated feature films. It is based in Emeryville, California, United States. Since 2006, Pixar has been a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios, which is another studio owned by The Walt Disney Company. Pixar started in 1979 as part of the Lucasfilm computer division, known as the Graphics Group, before its spin-off as a corporation in 1986, with funding from Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who became its majority shareholder. Disney purchased Pixar in January 2006 at a valuation of $7.4+ billion by converting each share of Pixar stock to 2.3 shares of Disney stock. Craig Kellman
Craig Kellman (born September 28, 1971) is an American animator, character designer and director. He is best known for his work on ''Madagascar'' (2005), ''Hotel Transylvania'' (2012), ''Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2'' (2013), ''Trolls'' (2016), ''The Powerpuff Girls'' and ''Samurai Jack''. Background Kellman attended the California Institute of the Arts as a part of their character animation program. At 18, he started work in animation on ''Bobby's World''. He would go on to produce and direct ''The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat'' at 23 and work on major animated series, such as ''Dexter's Laboratory'', ''The Powerpuff Girls'', ''Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends'' and HBO's ''The Ricky Gervais Show''. Eben Fiske Ostby
Eben Fiske Ostby (born February 24, 1955) is a pioneer computer graphics software developer, animator, and technical director for motion pictures. Ostby was born in Hampton, Connecticut, United States. He graduated from Pomfret School and Vassar College, where he was its "first computer science major". He joined Pixar when the company was a garage start-up, as one of the first four employees of its animation department along with John Lasseter. There, he worked on early breakthrough animation shorts such as '' Luxo Jr.'', ''Red's Dream'', ''Tin Toy'', ''Knick Knack'', and '' For the Birds''. He became Vice President for Software. Enrico Casarosa
Enrico Casarosa (born November 20, 1971) is an Italian-American storyboard artist, film director, and writer who works at Pixar. In 2012, he was nominated for an Academy Award for the animated short film '' La Luna''. In 2022, he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature for ''Luca'' (2021). Early life Casarosa was born in Genoa, Italy, and moved to New York City in his twenties, to study animation at the School of Visual Arts and Illustration at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Edwin Catmull
Edwin Earl "Ed" Catmull (born March 31, 1945) is an American computer scientist who is the co-founder of Pixar and was the President of Walt Disney Animation Studios. He has been honored for his contributions to 3D computer graphics (computer science), computer graphics, including the 2019 Turing Award, ACM Turing Award. David Silverman (animator)
David Silverman (born March 15, 1957) is an American animator who has directed numerous episodes of the animated TV series ''The Simpsons'', as well as its film adaptation. Silverman was involved with the series from the very beginning, animating all of the original short ''Simpsons'' cartoons that aired on ''The Tracey Ullman Show.'' He went on to serve as director of animation for several years. He also did the animation for the 2016 film ''The Edge of Seventeen,'' which was produced by Gracie Films. Domee Shi
Domee Shi (; ; born 1989) is a Chinese-born Canadian animator, Film director, director and screenwriter. Since 2011, she has worked for Pixar, contributing as a storyboard artist for multiple films, including ''Inside Out (2015 film), Inside Out'' (2015), ''Incredibles 2'' (2018), and ''Toy Story 4'' (2019). Doug Sweetland
Doug Sweetland is an American animator and filmmaker. As a child, Sweetland drew cartoons for the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts for several years. After graduating high school in 1992, he opted to attend California Institute of the Arts and pursue his lifelong love and passion for animation. Dan Scanlon
Dan Scanlon (born June 21, 1976) is an American animator, storyboard artist, director, and screenwriter, working for Pixar, for whom he has directed ''Monsters University'' and '' Onward''. Early life Scanlon grew up in Clawson, Michigan. When he was one year old and his brother three years old, their father died, and when they were teenagers, a relative gave them a brief audio recording of their father. Dan Lee (May 19, 1969 – January 15, 2005) was a Canadian-American animator, best known as the character designer of Nemo, the title character from ''Finding Nemo''. Early life He was born in Montreal, Quebec, in 1969, the youngest of four children of Chinese immigrants and grew up in Scarborough, Ontario, a suburb of Toronto. He graduated with honours from the animation program at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. Career He worked on television cartoons and commercials for several studios, including Kennedy Cartoons in Toronto and Colossal Pictures in San Francisco before joining Pixar in June 1996.
