Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional American football team based in Pittsburgh. The Steelers compete in the National Football League (NFL) as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. Founded in , the Steelers are the seventh-oldest franchise in the NFL, and the oldest franchise in the AFC. In contrast with their status as perennial also-rans in the pre- merger NFL, where they were the oldest team never to have won a league championship, the Steelers of the post- merger (modern) era are among the most successful NFL franchises, especially during their dynasty in the 1970s. The team is tied with the New England Patriots for the most Super Bowl titles at six, and they have both played in (sixteen times) and hosted (eleven times) more conference championship games than any other team in the NFL. Larry Anderson (American Football)
Lawrence Andrew Anderson (born September 25, 1956) is a former professional American football player who played cornerback and kick returner for seven seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts. Anderson started his football career at Neville High School in Monroe, Louisiana, where he played running back and defensive back, while also returning kicks and punts, and was a member of the school's 1972 state championship team. He went on play college football at Louisiana Tech University. Joining the team as a walk on, he did not play in any games until his senior season in 1977. That year, Anderson was the nation's second-leading punt returner, with 44 punt returns for 441 yards and two touchdowns. He also returned 14 kickoffs for 435 yards (an average of 31.5 yards per return) and two scores, and intercepted five passes on defense. Gary Anderson (placekicker)
Gary Allan Anderson (born 16 July 1959) is a South African former American football placekicker who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 23 seasons. The first South African to appear in an NFL regular season game, he spent the majority of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and is also known for his tenure with the Minnesota Vikings. Anderson earned four Pro Bowl and two first-team All-Pro honors after joining the league in 1982 and was named to the NFL's second All-Decade teams of the 1980s and 1990s, as well as the Steelers All-Time Team. He is one of 29 individuals to be selected to multiple All-Decade teams. With the Vikings in 1998, Anderson became the first NFL kicker to convert every field goal and extra point in the regular season. Fred Anderson (American Football)
Fredell Lamont Anderson (born October 30, 1954) is an American former National Football League (NFL) defensive lineman who played for the Pittsburgh Steelers (1978–1979) and the Seattle Seahawks (1980–1982). Early life Anderson was born in Toppenish, Washington in 1954 and attended Toppenish High School. Career He played college football for Oregon State University and Prairie View A&M University. He was then drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers. He stayed there for the 1978 Pittsburgh Steelers season, 1980 season before being released, and won Super Bowl XIII against the Dallas Cowboys and Super Bowl XIV against the Los Angeles Rams. He was later picked up by the Seattle Seahawks in 1980, where he stayed for three seasons. Art Anderson
Arthur Anthony Anderson (October 9, 1936 – February 25, 2021) was a professional American football offensive tackle in the National Football League. He is one of the few tackles to prevent Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Deacon Jones from accomplishing any sacks in a game (1961 season). His teammates on the Chicago Bears under George Halas included Pro Football Hall of Fame inductees Stan Jones (American football), Stan Jones (his close friend), Doug Atkins, and 1961 rookie Mike Ditka. Early years Anderson grew up in Wahpeton, North Dakota on the Minnesota state line, in a house his grandfather built. His father was Arthur Albin Anderson, the first North Dakota Highway Patrolman stationed in Wahpeton (6th in North Dakota), appointed in 1936.
