Suburb
A suburb (more broadly suburban area) is an area within a metropolitan area, which may include commercial and mixed-use, that is primarily a residential area. A suburb can exist either as part of a larger city/urban area or as a separate political entity. Oats Street Railway Station
Oats Street railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network in Perth, Western Australia. It is located on the Armadale and Thornlie line, 8.2 kilometres from Perth station serving the suburbs of Carlisle, East Victoria Park and Kewdale. History Oats Street station opened in November 1954. The station serves as the only station for Armadale Line passengers to transfer to the Thornlie Line and thus intermediate stations between Claisebrook and Cannington. In 2020, the station's bus interchange was upgraded due to the bus facilities at the time being at capacity. The interchange was extended north, adding two new bus stands, bringing the total to four. Three new bus layover bays were added. The upgrade facilitated articulated buses using the interchange. Construction started in April 2020 and finished in August 2020. Joondalup Railway Line
The Joondalup line is a commuter rail service in Western Australia, linking the Perth central business district (CBD) with the metropolitan area's north-western suburbs. The service is operated on the Northern Suburbs Railway by Transperth Train Operations, a division of the Public Transport Authority, and is part of the Transperth network. It is long and serves 13 stations. The service is currently, , being extended to Yanchep as part of the Yanchep Rail Extension project, and may be renamed once the extension to Yanchep is completed. Construction of the infrastructure for the service began on 14 November 1989. It opened between Perth station and Joondalup station on 20 December 1992, albeit with only Perth, Leederville, Edgewater and Joondalup stations operational. Shenton Park Railway Station
Shenton Park railway station (officially Shenton Park Station) is a commuter railway station in Shenton Park, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. The station is on the Fremantle and Airport lines, which are part of the Transperth public transport network. It has an island platform, accessed by a pedestrian underpass. Cottesloe railway station is a railway station on the Transperth network. It is located on the Fremantle line, 12.4 kilometres from Perth station serving the suburbs of Cottesloe and Peppermint Grove. History Cottesloe station was originally established as Bullens Siding in 1884. Robert Napoleon Bullen was the proprietor of the Albion Hotel. The station was a request stop. Passengers could stop the train with a provided red flag in daylight or a candle in a jar at night. In June 1892 the station was renamed Cottesloe and became a regular stop for trains. Fremantle Railway Station
Fremantle railway station is the terminus of Transperth's Fremantle line in Western Australia. History The original Fremantle station opened in Cliff Street on 1 March 1881 as the terminus of the Eastern Railway to Guildford via Perth. As the Eastern Railway was extended its importance grew, becoming an important hub for gold miners arriving in Western Australia via ship and then travelling to the Yilgarn and Eastern Goldfields when the line opened to Kalgoorlie in 1896. In 1907, a new station and marshalling yards were established 300 metres to the north-east on the site of the former Fremantle Railway Workshops to better service the newly constructed Fremantle Harbour. The station was designed by William Dartnall, Chief Engineer of Existing Lines of the Railway Department in 1905. Armadale Station is a railway station on the South Western Railway, 30 kilometres from Perth station serving the suburb of Armadale, Brookdale and Haynes. It is the terminating point for Transperth Armadale line services and a calling point for Transwa ''Australind'' services. History The original station opened on 2 May 1893 when the South Western Railway opened from Claisebrook to Pinjarra. As part of the electrification of the line in the early 1990s, a new station was built with the former signal box relocated to the Armadale Tourist Centre. Kelmscott Railway Station
Kelmscott railway station is located on the South Western Railway, 25.9 kilometres from Perth Station in the suburb of Kelmscott. It is served by Armadale Line services which are part of the Transperth network. History Kelmscott station opened on 2 May 1893 as one of the original stations on the Armadale Line. Gosnells station is a railway station on the South Western Railway 21 kilometres from Perth Station in the suburb of Gosnells. It is served by Armadale Line services which are part of the Transperth network. History The original Gosnells station opened in 1905.
