People's Artiste Of The Azerbaijan SSR
The People's Artiste of the Azerbaijan SSR () was an honorary title awarded from 1931 to 1991 (and active from 1928 to 1991), it was granted to artistes of the Azerbaijan SSR for their contributions to the development of Azerbaijani culture in the fields of theater, cinema, music. This award was succeeded by the People's Artiste of Azerbaijan. History The first award was given to musician Gurban Pirimov in 1931. The last award was given to film director Ajdar Ibrahimbeyov in 1991. This honorary title award was succeeded by the People's Artiste of Azerbaijan title in 1990. Leyla Mahad qizi Vakilova ( az, Leyla Vəkilova) (27 January 1927, Baku – 21 February 1999, Baku) was a Soviet and Azerbaijani ballerina and ballet instructor. Career Leyla Vakilova was born in Baku, Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union. She took ballet lessons at the Baku School of Choreography from prominent Azerbaijani ballerina Gamar Almaszadeh. In 1945, she left for Moscow to gain experience in the field of ballet at the Moscow State Academy of Choreography. After returning to Baku in 1946, she made her first ballet performance as Tao Khoa in ''The Red Poppy'' by Reinhold Glière at the Azerbaijan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre where she worked for the next 30 years. Her early performances in Azerbaijani ballets by Afrasiyab Badalbeyli, Soltan Hajibeyov, Gara Garayev, Fikrat Amirov and Arif Malikov brought her great fame, which was recognized by the awarding of the Order of Lenin to her. Fikret Amirov
Fikret Mashadi Jamil oghlu Amirov ( az, Fikrət Məşədi Cəmil oğlu Əmirov; November 22, 1922, Ganja – February 20, 1984, Baku) was a prominent Soviet and Azerbaijani composer. Biography Fikret Amirov grew up in an atmosphere of Azerbaijani folk music. His father, Mashadi Jamil Amirov, was a famous mugam singer ("''xanəndə''"), who played tar and composed, including the 1915 opera '' Seyfal mulk''. During his childhood and early adolescence, Fikret began composing pieces for the piano. Upon his graduation from the Ganja Music College, Amirov entered the Azerbaijan State Conservatoire, now known as the Baku Music Academy, where he was a student of Boris Zeidman and Uzeyir Hajibeyov. In 1941, when Nazi Germany attacked the USSR, Amirov, 19 at the time, was drafted to the Soviet army. Said Rustamov ( az, Səid Rüstəmov), born Mir-Jabbar Ali oglu Seyid-Rustamzadeh (12 May 1907 in Erivan – 10 June 1983 in Baku), was a Soviet Azerbaijani composer and conductor. Life and contributions Said Rustamov was born in Yerevan where he spent his early years and went to primary school. He was the youngest of the family's four children. After his father's death and his mother's second marriage, he was taken in and brought up by his older brother who had been married by that time. Niyazi Zulfugar oghlu Taghizade Hajibeyov ( az, Niyazi Zülfüqar bəy oğlu Hacıbəyov) (1912–1984) was a prominent Soviet Azerbaijani conductor, and composer of the renowned symphonic mugham "Rast". Early life Niyazi was born on August 20, 1912 in Tbilisi in a family of prominent Shusha musicians. His father was the composer Zulfugar Hajibeyov. He is the nephew of Uzeyir Hajibeyov, the founder of the Azeri classical music. He was playing the violin in "Qırmızı Kadet" Turkish military orchestra in 1921. He studied at the Gnessin Music School in Moscow in 1925-1926. In 1929-30 he studied at the Central Musical Technical School in Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg), but dropped out due to health problems. He returned to Baku in 1931. Aliagha Aghayev ( az, Əliağa Ağayev; March 22, 1913 – November 13, 1983) was a Soviet and Azerbaijani actor. He was awarded the People's Artist of the Azerbaijan SSR. He was famous for his comedy roles. About Aliagha Aghayev was born on March 22, 1913 in Baku, Russian Empire. After graduating from the 7th class in 1930, he studied at a vocational school at the ship's repair plant named after the Paris Commune. 2 years later, after he completed the school, started to work in the factory. Rashid Behbudov ( az, Rəşid Məcid oğlu Behbudov, Azerbaijani Cyrillic: Рашид Бейбутов; 14 December 1915 – 9 June 1989) was a Soviet and Azerbaijani singer and actor. Rashid Behbudov was born in Tbilisi in 1915. His father, Majid Behbudov, was a singer as well. In 1945, upon the invitation of Tofig Guliyev, Rashid Behbudov moved to Baku. In the same year, he was assigned the main role of Asgar in the film ''Arshin Mal Alan'' ('' The Cloth Peddler''), based on a play by Uzeyir Hajibeyov. Barat Habib gizi Shakinskaya ( az, Barat Həbib qızı Şəkinskaya; 28 June 1914 – 14 January 1999) was an Azerbaijani and Soviet stage and film actress. Biography Barat Shakinskaya was born into a bey family in Shusha, Russian Empire (now Azerbaijan). Her mother Aghja (née Hajiyeva) was the niece of Azerbaijani writer and dramatist Abdurrahim bey Hagverdiyev.
