Pashto Language
Pashto (,; , ) is an Eastern Iranian language in the Indo-European language family. It is known in historical Persian literature as Afghani (). Spoken as a native language mostly by ethnic Pashtuns, it is one of the two official languages of Afghanistan alongside Dari,Constitution of Afghanistan ''Chapter 1 The State, Article 16 (Languages) and Article 20 (Anthem)''/ref> and it is the second-largest provincial language of Pakistan, spoken mainly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the northern districts of Balochistan. Khatir Afridi
Khatir Afridi ( ps, خاطر آفریدی ) (1929 – August 24, 1968) was a Pashto language poet from Pakistan. Life He was born in the Zakha Khel tribe in Saddu Khel village of Khyber agency. He was a gardener by profession in a nearby high school (now a F.C. fort). He never went to school for formal education. He was a closed friend of Ashna. His grave in Saddu khel graveyard which have a small tample. Wranga Loni
Wranga Loni ( ps, وړانګه لوڼۍ, ur, وڑانگہ لونی; also spelled Wrranga Lunri or Wrranga Luni) is a human rights activist and writer from Sanjawi in northern Balochistan, Pakistan. She is a leading member of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM), as well as a founding member of the Waak Movement, which aims to bring political awareness among Pashtun women. Social activism Wranga joined the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement in February 2018 along with her elder brother, Arman Loni. Both of them actively took part in organizing the PTM public gatherings, usually traveling to the gathering site a week earlier to help run awareness campaigns among the locals. Arman Loni
Mohammad Ibrahim Arman Loni ( ps, محمد ابراهیم ارمان لوڼی), commonly known as Arman Loni (or Arman Luni), was a teacher of Pashto literature, poet, and one of the founding leaders of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM). Arman died on 2 February 2019 after a clash with the police, which followed his participation at a protest sit-in outside Loralai Press Club. The four-day sit-in had been organized by PTM activists, including Arman and his sister Wranga Loni, to protest against the 2019 Loralai attack, in which eight policemen and a civilian had been killed by the Pakistani Taliban on 29 January 2019. His family and PTM activists said that as the police attacked him and other activists, a policeman struck Arman on the head with a gun, causing him to collapse. Sulaiman Layeq
Sulaiman Layeq ( ps, سليمان لايق, sometimes also Romanised as Laeq or Laiq) (12 October 1930 - 31 July 2020) was an Afghan politician, ideologue and poet who held the positions of President of the Academy of Sciences, full member of the Afghan Politburo, and Minister of Nationalities and Tribal Affairs. Biography Initially a student of the College of Theology, he graduated from the College of Literature in 1958. Laeq was a poet and writer in Pashtu and Dari. During 1957–68, Laeq held different posts in the national controlled media. Pareshan Khattak
Pareshan Khattak ( ur, پری شان خٹک), (10 December 1932 – 16 April 2009) real name Gahami Jan Khattak, former Vice-Chancellor, Pashto poet and writer and former Chairman University Grants Commission. Born in Karak, Pakistan he joined education department in 1958, after obtaining a master's degree in History, he joined the Pashto Academy as Assistant Research Officer. Due to his exceptional talent and leadership skills, he was then named as Director and then Chairman of the Pashto academy. Hafizullah Khaled ( fa, حفیظ الله خالد) is an Afghan Austrian humanitarian, peace activist, writer and founder of the Help Afghan School Children Organization (HASCO) based in Vienna (Austria). HASCO is a not-for-profit, non-political Organization dedicated to assisting Afghan new returnees and displaced families send their children into school. Abdul Bari Jahani
Abdul Bari Jahani ( ps, عبدالباري جهاني, born 14 February 1948) is an Afghan poet, novelist, historian and journalist. He wrote the lyrics for the national anthem of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. Early life and education Jahani was born in Ahmad Shahyee area of Kandahar city, in southern Afghanistan. Jahani often recalls his old good days of childhood in Kandahar where he spent most of his teenage years and talks about how Kandahar was once a melting pot and a common home for all ideologies and beliefs. In his Raazo-Niyaaz book Jahani talks about how he grew up playing in Kandahar as a kid and how peaceful Kandahar was during his high school time. Farigh Bukhari
Ahmad Shah (11 November 1917 – 13 April 1997), known by his pen name as Farigh Bukhari ( ''romanized'': Fārigh Buk̲h̲ārī), was a Pakistani multilingual poet and progressive writer. He wrote books, including poetry on various subjects such as literature, social issues and politics in Hindko, Pashto and predominantly in Urdu language. Some of his publications appears about universal values and humanism. Farigh was born in British India (in modern-day Peshawar, Pakistan).
