List Of Paralympic Medalists In Wheelchair Curling
Wheelchair curling is a team sport that is contested at the Winter Paralympic Games. Wheelchair curling was first included in the official programme of the 2006 Games in Turin, Italy. In total, 30 athletes have won a medal in curling, and 3 have won two. Sonja Gaudet of Canada (two gold), Jalle Jungnell and Anette Wilhelm of Sweden (two bronze) have won two medals. Teams from Canada have been successful in the sport, winning the gold medal at each Paralympics. A wheelchair is a chair with wheels, used when walking is difficult or impossible due to illness, injury, problems related to old age, or disability. These can include spinal cord injuries (paraplegia, hemiplegia, and quadriplegia), cerebral palsy, brain injury, osteogenesis imperfecta, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, and more. Wheelchairs come in a wide variety of formats to meet the specific needs of their users. Frank Duffy (curler)
Frank Duffy (27 August 1959 – 16 December 2010) was a Scottish wheelchair curler. He was the skip of the silver medal-winning British team at the 2006 Winter Paralympics. He began curling at age 12 and developed paraplegia due to an accident at 35. His career highlights include sharing Gold at the 2004 and 2005 WCF World Championships. Kim Hak-sung (; born February 28, 1968) is a professional wheelchair curler from South Korea.He lost his function of his lower body due to an industrial hazard while working as a construction worker in 1991. He is the skip for the South Korean team at the 2010 Winter Paralympics. He graduated from Seoul Institute of the Arts. In addition to wheelchair curling, he has represented South Korea in both javelin, discus throw and shot put. His hobbies are internet gaming, fishing, and wheelchair basketball. Ina Forrest (born 25 May 1962) is a wheelchair curler selected to be second for Canada's team at the 2010 and 2014 Winter Paralympics, winning a gold medal on both occasions. She has also won a gold medal 3 times in the World Wheelchair Curling Championships, in 2009, 2011, and 2013. She was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame in February 2016. Jim Armstrong (curler)
James P. Armstrong (born June 30, 1950) is a former Canadian curler and wheelchair curler now living in Ontario. He was a successful able-bodied curler for much of his career until he had to stop playing because of bad knees and a car accident in 2003. Career Curling career Born in Victoria, British Columbia, Armstrong began curling at eight, and by the age of 22 he made his first Brier, playing second for British Columbia, skipped by Jack Tucker. The team finished 5–5 at that 1973 MacDonald Brier. Armstrong skipped B.C. in the following Brier, placing third with a 6–4 record. Armstrong wouldn't make another Brier for 9 years, when he played third for Bernie Sparkes at the 1983 Labatt Brier.
