List Of Ontario Provincial Electoral Districts
The Ontario provincial electoral districts each elect one representative to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. They are MPPs, Members of Provincial Parliament. These districts are coterminous with the federal electoral districts, and are based on the ''2003 Representation Order'' as defined by Elections Canada. The exception is Northern Ontario, whose districts are not equivalent to their federal complements, since the provincial government did not want to decrease the number of districts in Northern Ontario. The Legislative Assembly of Ontario (OLA, french: Assemblée législative de l'Ontario) is the legislative chamber of the Canadian province of Ontario. Its elected members are known as Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs). Bills passed by the Legislative Assembly are given royal assent by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario to become law. Together, the Legislative Assembly and Lieutenant Governor make up the unicameral Legislature of Ontario or Parliament of Ontario. The assembly meets at the Ontario Legislative Building at Queen's Park in the provincial capital of Toronto. Rima Michelle Berns-McGown is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2018 provincial election. She represented the riding of Beaches—East York as a member of the Ontario New Democratic Party. Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound (provincial Electoral District)
Bruce—Grey—Owen Sound is a provincial electoral district in western Ontario, Canada. It elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It was created in 1999 from parts of Bruce and Grey when ridings in Ontario were redistributed to match their federal counterparts. The riding from 1999 to 2007 included the municipalities of West Grey, Hanover, Chatsworth, Meaford, Owen Sound, Georgian Bluffs, Arran-Elderslie, South Bruce Peninsula, Northern Bruce Peninsula, Neyaashiinigmiing, Saugeen 29, plus the eastern half of Brockton and South Bruce plus the northern third of Grey Highlands. In 2007, the riding gained the municipality of Southgate, the rest of Grey Highlands, but lost the parts of Brockton and South Bruce in the riding. Willem Bouma (born July 27, 1972) is a Dutch-Canadian politician, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2018 provincial election. He represents the riding of Brantford—Brant as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. Before becoming an MPP, Bouma practised optometry and was a member of the Brant County Council. Early life and optometry career Born in the village of Rinsumageast in The Netherlands, Bouma's family moved to Ontario when he was four years old. His parents operated a dairy farm near Forest, Ontario. Bouma attended the University of Waterloo, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 1995. Brantford—Brant (formerly just Brant) is a provincial electoral district in southwestern, Ontario, Canada. The district elects one member to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario. It was created in 1999 from all of Brantford and part of Brant—Haldimand. When the riding was created, it included the city of Brantford, the town of Paris plus the townships of Brantford and South Dumfries. In 2007, the boundaries were altered to include all of Brant County, plus that part of the Indian Reserves of Six Nations 40 and New Credit 40A located in Haldimand County. Kevin Yarde is a Canadian politician and former weather presenter who was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 2018 provincial election for the riding of Brampton North.
