Vic Wunderle
Victor Steven "Vic" Wunderle (born March 4, 1976 in Lincoln, Illinois) is an archer from the United States. Personal Wunderle was raised in Mason City, Illinois and is the son of the famous archery coach Terry Wunderle. His passion for archery started at the age five. He competed in many competitions and received many honors throughout his childhood. After graduating from Illini Central High School in 1994, he attended Texas A&M University, where he graduated in 2002 with a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences. 2000 Summer Olympics Wunderle won the silver medal in archery at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Simon Fairweather
Simon John Fairweather, OAM (born 9 October 1969) is an archer born in Adelaide, South Australia. He is tall and weighs . Fairweather won the individual gold medal at the World Championships in Poland in 1991. Fairweather was declared the Young Australian of the Year in 1991. After an early Olympic career in which he was generally considered not to have lived up to his promise, Fairweather shot back into Australia's national consciousness, "stopping the nation" with his gold-medal performance in men's individual archery at the 2000 Summer Olympics. Archery At The 2000 Summer Olympics
Archery at the 2000 Summer Olympics was held at Sydney International Archery Park in Sydney, Australia with ranking rounds on 16 September and regular competition held from 17 to 20 September. One hundred twenty-eight archers from forty-six nations competed in the four gold medal events—individual and team events for men and for women—that were contested at these games. The Korean team won three out of the four gold medals contested. Eight Olympic records and three world records were broken at these games. Qualification and format There were four ways for National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to qualify berths for individual archers for the Olympics in archery. No NOC was allowed to enter more than three archers. For each gender, the host nation ( Australia) was guaranteed three spots. Oh Kyo-moon (born March 2, 1972) is an archer from South Korea. He won a team silver medal and an individual bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics. Oh also was a member of Korea's gold medal men's archery team at the 2000 Summer Olympics. In the men's individual competition, he finished sixth. Magnus Petersson
Magnus Petersson (born 17 June 1975 in Gothenburg) is an archer from Sweden. He is an experienced Olympian, having won a silver medal in 1996. Petersson advanced to the semifinals in archery at the 2000 Summer Olympics, but was defeated there by Vic Wunderle. In the consolation bronze medal match, he again lost, this time to Wietse van Alten. The Swedish team, of which he was a member, placed 6th. Petersson competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in men's individual archery. He won his first match, advancing to the round of 32. In the second round of elimination, he was defeated. His final rank was 23rd overall. Petersson was also a member of the 9th-place Swedish men's archery team. Justin Huish
Justin Grant Huish (born January 9, 1975, in Fountain Valley, California) is an American double Olympic champion in Archery, titles he won at the 1996 Atlanta Games. Known for his unorthodox character sporting wrap-around shades, backwards baseball cap, ponytail and an earring, Huish captivated the crowd by winning a gold medal in the individual and team events. In the individual, Huish ranked no higher than 24th in the world at the time but rose to the occasion and saw off Sweden's Magnus Pettersson 112–107 in the final. Archery At The 1996 Summer Olympics
Archery at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta consisted of four events. The events were held in neighboring Stone Mountain. All archery was done at a range of 70 metres. 64 archers competed in each the men's individual and women's individual competitions. They began with a 72-arrow ranking round. This was followed by three elimination rounds, in which archers competed head-to-head in 18-arrow matches. After these rounds, there were 8 archers left in each gender. The quarterfinals, semifinals, and medal matches (collectively termed the "finals round") were 12-arrow matches. In all matches, losers were eliminated and received a final rank determined by their score in that round, with the exception of the semifinals. Simon Duncan Terry (27 March 1974 – July 2021) was a British archer from Grantham in Lincolnshire, England. Early life Terry was born on 27 March 1974 in Stirling, the son of Mike and Janice Terry. With the help of his father, Terry first began practising archery when he was eight years old. At the age of nine he won his first competition. At the time of the 1992 Summer Olympics, Terry was an unemployed roofer. Comeback After 13 years of retirement from archery, Terry began shooting again, and achieved high placings in major international events including the team gold at the World Cup 2007, stage two, in Varese, and an individual fourth place at the World Outdoor Championships in Leipzig, Germany being beaten by his teammate Alan Wills in a thrilling tie break where he scored a nine, and Wills took the bronze with a 10.
