Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie ( ; born 15 September 1977) is a Nigerian writer whose works include novels, short stories and nonfiction. She was described in ''The Times Literary Supplement'' as "the most prominent" of a "procession of critically acclaimed young anglophone authors hichis succeeding in attracting a new generation of readers to African literature", particularly in her second home, the United States. Olajide Aluko
Olajide Aluko (3 June 1942 – 5 March 1991) was a Nigerian scholar who in October 1977 became the first professor of international relations in Sub-Saharan Africa. He was also said to be the Doyen of International Relations. He was a prolific writer and conference speaker who wrote and editted several books and journals concerning international relations. Ambrose Folorunsho Alli
Ambrose Folorunsho Alli (22 September 1929 – 22 September 1989) was a Nigerian medical professor who served as Executive Governor of the defunct Nigerian state of Bendel State (now the Nigerian states of Edo and Delta (state), Delta) between 1979 and 1983. Grace Alele-Williams
Grace Alele-Williams (16 December 1932 – 25 March 2022) was a Nigerian professor of mathematics education, who made history as the first Nigerian woman to receive a doctorate, and the first Nigerian female vice-chancellor at the University of Benin.. Early life and education Grace Awani Alele was born to Itsekiri parents in Warri, Western Region (present-day Delta State), Nigeria on 16 December 1932. Oladele Ajose
Oladele Adebayo Ajose (1907–1978) was a Lagos prince who was the Vice-Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University. He was an early advocate of primary health care in Nigeria and the first tenured African professor at the University of Ibadan and in Nigeria. He was one of the earliest Africans to hold a professorial chair. Education and career He attended Methodist Boys High School and King's College, Lagos for secondary education. Seth Sunday Ajayi (born 16th May, 1943) is a Nigerian scientist, scholar and the first African Professor of Wildlife Ecology. Early life and education Ajayi was born on 16 May ,1944 in Mopa, Kogi State. He attended the Sudan Interior Mission Day School, Mopa and Titcombe College, Egbe, both in Kogi State. He used the Northern Nigerian Government Scholarship at both the Higher School Certificate and University levels and obtained the B.Sc. Honours degree in zoology in 1968. Deborah Enilo Ajakaiye was born in 1940 in Plateau State in Northern Nigeria, and is a Nigerian geophysicist. She is the first female physics professor in Africa and her work in geophysics has played an important role in mining in Nigeria. Lenrie Olatokunbo Aina (born 20 December 1950) is a professor of Library and Information Science, and former National Librarian/Chief Executive Officer of the National Library of Nigeria (NLN) Abuja.
