Minnesota United FC refers to two iterations of a club based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The club originally began play as NSC Minnesota Stars in 2010 and rebranded as Minnesota United FC (2010–2016) in 2013. The team played its first year in the temporary USSF Division 2 Professional League before transitioning to the North American Soccer League in 2011 and Major League Soccer in 2017 as an expansion franchise known as Minnesota United FC. 2011 North American Soccer League Season
The 2011 North American Soccer League season is the 44th season of second division soccer in the United States and the inaugural season of the newly created North American Soccer League. Earlier in 2011, the league's likelihood of earning second tier sanctioning had been thrown into question when the U.S. Soccer Federation rejected the league in January due to its financial instability. The USSF gave provisional sanctioning at the annual general meeting in Las Vegas on February 12, 2011. Competition format The NASL debuted in 2011 with 8 teams playing a 28-game regular season schedule, with 14 home and 14 away games, playing each opponent four times. 2013 North American Soccer League Season
The 2013 North American Soccer League season was the 46th season of Division II soccer in the United States and the third season of the revived North American Soccer League. It was contested by eight teams including one from Canada. Expansion club New York Cosmos was added to the NASL during the season. A split season format was used for the first time. Puerto Rico Islanders, originally planned to take part in this season, as they did in first two editions, took the year off, due to planned restructuring. Amani Walker (born 16 December 1989 in San Diego, California) is a Jamaican footballer. Also known as the NASL Championship Series 2012, the event was contested in a two-game aggregate match between the Tampa Bay Rowdies and, the defending 2011 NASL champions, the Minnesota Stars.
