Free Soil is a village in Mason County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 144 at the 2010 census. The village is located within Free Soil Township. History The current village is actually the second settlement in Mason County to be named Free Soil. There are still a few homes in the area now known as "Old Freesoil".
