Ofelia Guilmáin
Ofelia Guilmáin (November 17, 1921 – January 14, 2005) was a Spaniard-Mexican actress of telenovelas, stage and the cinema of Mexico. She is also the mother of actors Juan Ferrara and Lucía Guilmáin. Two of her grandchildren, sons of Ferrara, Mauricio and Juan Carlos Bonet, are also actors. Biography Ofelia Guilmáin was born in Madrid, Spain. She was part of the Guerrillas of Theater groups in Spain set up by the republican government. When Francisco Franco came to power, she left her country as did many other artists and intellectuals. She arrived with her family in Mexico in 1939 and debuted in theater the following year in the play ''Mujeres''. In 1940, she made her first film ''El capitán estrella'' and married Lucilo Gutiérrez next year. She retired from show business for a decade and became a Mexican citizen in 1952. César Costa
César Roel Schreurs, best known as César Costa, is a Mexican actor and rock-and-roll singer. Costa was born in Colonia Condesa of the Mexican capital. He studied elementary and Junior Highschool at the German College and Law at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Music career He started his musical career at the age of 17 as César Roel singing and playing guitar with the rock-and-roll band '' Los Black Jeans'' ("The Black Jeans"), singing Spanish versions of American hit singles as well as original songs like ''La batalla de Jericó''. They recorded their first album in 1959 with ''Peerless Records''. His backup singer was world-renowned tenor Plácido Domingo. When the band signed with ''Musart Records'' the band changed its name to '' Los Camisas Negras'' ("The Black Shirts") and César Roel to ''Cesar Costa'' (honoring music arranger Don Costa). Fernando Cortés
Fernando "Papi" Cortés (October 4, 1909 – 1979) was a Puerto Rican film actor, writer and director. He was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, but he spent most of his adult life in Mexico City, where he died. On 1932, while in New York City, Fernando Cortés married Puerto Rican childhood friend María del Pilar Cordero, who adopted the stage name of Mapy Cortés. The couple soon traveled to Spain with a Cuban theatrical troupe. They worked on the Spanish stage, radio and film until the outbreak of the Civil War in 1936. Fernando progressively began to take a backseat as actor and baritone and focused on promoting the career of his wife Mapy, who became a noted ''vedette'' (showgirl with star status) in Barcelona. Columba Domínguez Alarid (March 4, 1929 – August 13, 2014) was a Mexican actress, singer, and painter. She is remembered particularly for her performance in the film ''Pueblerina'' (1949). Biography Early life Columba Domínguez Alarid was born on March 4, 1929 in Guaymas, Sonora, Mexico. She moved to Mexico City with her family when she was very young. Patricia Eugenia Gutiérrez Salinas (born May 29, 1945 in Mexico City) is a Mexican actress. Biography After completing her primary education she took a course in ballet and later enrolled at the Academy of Dramatic Art of the National Association of Actors (ANDA); however, these studies were only a complement to her education and she didn't really think of pursuing acting as a career. At the end of 1960, Ismael Rodríguez sought a teen actress to play "Jacinta Cárdenas" in the film ''Los hermanos del hierro'', for which he convened a contest. She participated and was selected from a group of over fifty young people, including several professional actresses. Emilio "El Indio" Fernández Romo (; 26 March 1904 – 6 October 1986) was a Mexican film director, actor and screenwriter. He was one of the most prolific film directors of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema in the 1940s and 1950s. Lorena Velázquez
Lorena Velázquez (; born December 15, 1937) is a Mexican actress and former beauty pageant titleholder. Biography Born María de la Concepción Lorena Villar in Mexico City, Velázquez debuted in 1955. She competed in Miss Mexico in 1958 and placed second. Afterwards she was appointed Miss Mexico 1960, although she refused to represent Mexico in the Miss Universe pageant. Velázquez played varied roles in the 60's, from a vedette, to a cowgirl and even as the queen of vampires.
