A senator for life is a member of the senate or equivalent upper chamber of a legislature who has life tenure. , six Italian senators out of 206, two out of the 41 Burundian senators, one Congolese senator out of 109, and all members of the British House of Lords (apart from the 26 Lords Spiritual who are expected to retire at the age of 70) have lifetime tenure (although Lords can choose to resign or retire or can be expelled in cases of misconduct). Several South American countries once granted lifetime membership to former presidents but have since abolished the practice. Nicole Eaton
Nicole Marie Eaton (born January 21, 1945) is a Canadian former politician and a Conservative member of the Senate of Canada. A fundraiser for the Conservative Party, she was appointed on the advice of Stephen Harper to the Senate on December 22, 2008, her term starting on January 2, 2009. She was a trustee of the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) from 1983 to 1989 and a director of the ROM Foundation from 1996 to 2002. She retired from the Senate upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 75 on January 21, 2020. She served as Speaker Pro Tempore of the Canadian Senate from 2015 until her retirement from the Senate. William Cameron Edwards
William Cameron Edwards (7 May 1844 – 17 September 1921) was a Canadian businessman and parliamentarian. He was born in Clarence Township in Russell County, Ontario, the son of William Edwards and Ann Cameron, received basic schooling in Ottawa at the District Grammar School Lisgar Alumni Association. A History of the Ottawa Collegiate Institute, 1843–1903. 1904. and, at a young age, began work in the timber industry at Thurso, Quebec. He founded W.C. Art Eggleton
Arthur C. Eggleton (born September 29, 1943) is a retired Canadian politician who served as the 59th and longest-serving mayor of Toronto from 1980 to 1991. He was elected to Parliament in 1993, running as a Liberal in York Centre and served as a member of Parliament (MP) until 2004 when he declined to seek re-election. John Campbell Elliott, (August 25, 1872 – December 20, 1941) was a Canadian lawyer and politician. Early life He was born in Ekfrid, Ontario, the son of George Elliott and Jane Campbell. William Daum Euler
William Daum Euler, (July 10, 1875 – July 15, 1961) was a Canadian parliamentarian. Euler was born in Conestogo, Ontario, the son of Henry Euler and Catherine Daum. He attended Berlin High School between the years of 1891 and 1893. He then taught in Suddaby Public School and later founded the Euler Business College. Euler married Jean Howd.
