African Mathematical Union
The African Mathematical Union or Union Mathematique Africaine is an African organization dedicated to the development of mathematics in Africa. It was founded in 1976 in Rabat, Morocco, during the first Pan-African Congress of Mathematicians with Henri Hogbe Nlend as its first President. Another key figure in its early years was George Saitoti, later a prominent Kenyan politician. Mission The mission of the African Mathematical Union is twofold: # To coordinate and promote the quality of teaching, research and outreach activities in all areas of activities in all areas of mathematics throughout Africa. # To advance mathematical research and education towards the economic, social and cultural development of the continent. Austrian Mathematical Society
The Austrian Mathematical Society (german: Österreichische Mathematische Gesellschaft) is the national mathematical society of Austria and a member society of the European Mathematical Society. History The society was founded in 1903 by Ludwig Boltzmann, Gustav von Escherich and Emil Müller as ''Mathematical Society in Vienna'' (german: Mathematische Gesellschaft in Wien). After the Second World War it resumed operation in May 1946 and was formally reestablished at the 10th of August 1946 by Rudolf Inzinger. Indian Mathematical Society
Indian Mathematical Society (IMS) is the oldest organization in India devoted to the promotion of study and research in mathematics. The Society was founded in April 1907 by V. Ramaswami Aiyar with its headquarters at Pune. The Society started its activities under the tentatively proposed name ''Analytic Club'' and the name was soon changed to ''Indian Mathematical Club''. After the adoption of a new constitution in 1910, the society acquired its present name, namely, the Indian Mathematical Society. The first president of the Society was B. Hanumantha Rao. The German Mathematical Society (german: Deutsche Mathematiker-Vereinigung, DMV) is the main professional society of German mathematicians and represents German mathematics within the European Mathematical Society (EMS) and the International Mathematical Union (IMU). It was founded in 1890 in Bremen with the set theorist Georg Cantor as first president. The Danish Mathematical Society (Dansk Matematisk Forening) is a society of Denmark, Danish mathematicians founded in 1873 at the University of Copenhagen, a year after the Société Mathématique de France, French Mathematical Society. Cyprus Mathematical Society
The Cyprus Mathematical Society (CMS) aims to promote the mathematical education and science. It was founded in 1983. The C.M.S. is a non-profit organization supported by the voluntary work of its members. The C.M.S. counts over 600 members. In order to promote its aims, C.M.S. organizes Mathematical competition between students all over Cyprus, and takes part in international mathematics competitions ( BMO, Junior BMO competition, PMWC, IMO). CMS organize a series of mathematics competitions as part of the selection process of the national teams in the international mathematics competitions and the Cyprus Mathematical Olympiad. The Chinese Mathematical Society (CMS, ) is an academic organization for Chinese mathematicians, with the official websitwww.cms.org.cn It is a member of China Association of Science and Technology. History The Chinese Mathematical Society (CMS) was founded in July 1935 in Shanghai. The inaugural conference was held in the library of Shanghai Jiao Tong University on July 25, and 33 people attended the meeting. Its founding members included Hu Dunfu, Feng Zuxun, Zhou Meiquan, Jiang Lifu, Xiong Qinglai, Chen Jiangong, Gu Deng, Su Buqing, Jiang Zehan, Qian Baozong, and Fu Zhongsun.
