The following is a list of the national television and radio networks and announcers who have covered the Major League Baseball Wild Card Games throughout the years. 2022 National League Wild Card Series
The 2022 National League Wild Card Series were two best-of-three playoff series in Major League Baseball (MLB) to determine the participating teams of the 2022 National League Division Series. Both Wild Card Series began on October 7, with Game 2s scheduled for October 8 and Game 3s, if necessary, scheduled for October 9. ESPN broadcast both Wild Card Series, and games were broadcast by ESPN Radio. Background On March 10, Major League Baseball changed the postseason structure for the first time since 2012, adding a sixth team to the postseason in each league. MLB also added a wild card series where the lowest-seeded division winner, and three wild card teams (each seeded according to regular season record), will play a best-of-three Wild Card round, with the higher seed hosting all three games. ''MLB on ESPN'' is an American presentation of live Major League Baseball (MLB) games on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN+. ESPN's MLB coverage debuted on April 9, 1990 with three Opening Day telecasts. ''ESPN Major League Baseball'' is guaranteed to remain on air until 2028. In 2014, ESPN returned to broadcasting the Major League Baseball postseason. ESPN has exclusive rights to the wild card round starting in 2022. As of 2022, ESPN holds exclusive national broadcast rights to ''Sunday Night Baseball''. The 2021 American League Wild Card Game was a play-in game during the Major League Baseball (MLB) 2021 postseason, contested between the two wild card teams in the American League (AL), the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. Buster Olney
Robert "Buster" Olney (born ) is an American sports journalist for ESPN, ''ESPN: The Magazine'', and ESPN.com. He previously covered the New York Giants and New York Yankees for ''The New York Times''. He is also a regular analyst for the ESPN's television program ''Baseball Tonight'' and hosts ESPN's ''Baseball Tonight'' daily podcast. Early life and education Olney was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up on a dairy farm in Randolph Center, Vermont. He was educated at Northfield Mount Hermon School in Gill, Massachusetts, and Vanderbilt University, where he majored in history. As a child Olney was an avid baseball fan. Eduardo Atanasio Pérez Pérez (born September 11, 1969) is an American former professional baseball player, coach, and current television sports color commentator. He played in Major League Baseball and the Nippon Professional Baseball league as a first baseman, third baseman, and outfielder from to . After his playing career Pérez became a baseball analyst with ESPN, ESPN Deportes, and ESPN Latin America as well as a host on SiriusXM's MLB Network Radio. Early career Eduardo Pérez was born in Cincinnati, the younger son of baseball Hall of Famer Tony Pérez and Pituka Pérez. His godfather is Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda. Pérez's brother, Victor, graduated from Xavier University and played one year in the Cincinnati Reds minor league system.
