11th Louisiana Infantry Regiment (Confederate)
The 11th Louisiana Infantry Regiment was a unit of foot soldiers from Louisiana that fought in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. 22nd Louisiana Infantry Regiment
The 22nd Louisiana Infantry Regiment was a unit of volunteers recruited in Louisiana that fought in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. The regiment formed in April 1862 at New Orleans and served during the war in the Western Theater of the American Civil War. The men trained as gunners for heavy artillery and the regiment was split up to garrison various forts. Two companies were assigned to hold Fort Jackson, fought in the Defense of Fort Jackson, and surrendered afterward. One company made a futile defense during the Capture of New Orleans. The regiment reorganized at Camp Moore and traveled to Vicksburg, Mississippi, to participate in its defense. The unit was renamed the 21st Louisiana Infantry Regiment in January 1863. 21st Louisiana Infantry Regiment (Kennedy's)
The 21st Louisiana Infantry Regiment, also called the McCown Regiment, was an infantry regiment from Louisiana that served in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. Six of its companies formed the 5th Louisiana Infantry Battalion organized in September 1861, which fought in the Battle of Belmont as cannoneers. The battalion was brought up to regimental strength, becoming the 21st Louisiana, by the addition of four companies in February 1862. After service at Island Number Ten, Fort Pillow, and the Siege of Corinth, the regiment was disbanded due to its high desertion rate. The 19th Louisiana Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment from Louisiana that served in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. History Formation The future companies of the 19th Louisiana arrived at Camp Moore, established near Tangipahoa in May 1861 to provide an assembly point for Louisiana volunteer companies joining the Confederate army, in the late summer and early fall of 1861. There, they waited for assignment to a regiment, which came when the 19th Louisiana was organized on 19 November 1861. The 19th was initially understrength, having only eight of its required ten companies; the remaining two joined on 11 December to bring it to a strength of 873 men. 18th Louisiana Infantry Regiment
The 18th Louisiana Infantry Regiment was a unit of volunteers recruited in Louisiana that fought in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. The regiment began forming in October 1861, but did not reach its full complement of 10 companies until January 1862. It served throughout the war in the Western Theater of the American Civil War. In 1862, the regiment served at Shiloh, First Corinth and Georgia Landing (Labadieville). In 1863, it fought at Fort Bisland and campaigned in south Louisiana. In November 1863, the unit merged with the 10th Louisiana Infantry Battalion, creating the 18th Consolidated Louisiana Infantry Regiment. The new regiment served during the Red River campaign in 1864, fighting at Mansfield, Pleasant Hill, and Yellow Bayou. The regiment remained in Louisiana and Arkansas for the rest of the war, before disbanding in May 1865. 17th Louisiana Infantry Regiment
The 17th Louisiana Infantry Regiment was a unit of volunteers recruited in Louisiana that fought in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. The regiment formed at Camp Moore in September 1861 and served during the war in the Western Theater of the American Civil War. The unit stayed in New Orleans until February 1862 and then moved north to Corinth, Mississippi. The regiment first saw action at Shiloh in April 1862 while serving in Patton Anderson's brigade. Afterwards, the regiment redeployed to the Vicksburg area and repelled Sherman's attack at Chickasaw Bayou that December. In 1863 the regiment took part in the Vicksburg campaign, first fighting at Port Gibson and then at the Siege of Vicksburg in William Baldwin's brigade. The 16th and 25th Consolidated Louisiana Infantry Regiment was a unit of volunteers recruited in Louisiana that fought in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. Formed in June 1861 as the 2nd Regiment, Polish Brigade, the unit was sent to fight in the Eastern Theater of the American Civil War. The 14th Louisiana Infantry Regiment was a unit of volunteers recruited in Louisiana that fought in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. Formed in June 1861 as the 1st Regiment, Polish Brigade, the unit was later accepted into Confederate service as the 13th Regiment.
