Liechtenstein (), officially the Principality of Liechtenstein (german: link=no, Fürstentum Liechtenstein), is a German-speaking microstate located in the Alps between Austria and Switzerland. Andreas Wenzel
Andreas Wenzel (born 18 March 1958) is a former World Cup alpine ski racer from Liechtenstein, active from 1976 to 1988. Born in Planken, he was the overall World Cup champion in 1980, the same season in which his older sister Hanni won the women's overall title. He also won two season titles in the combined event, in 1984 and 1985. Career Wenzel competed in four Winter Olympics, and won two Olympic medals and four World Championship medals, including one gold (through 1980, the Olympics doubled as the World Championships). Wolfgang Haas
Wolfgang Haas (born 7 August 1948) is a Liechtenstein-born prelate of the Catholic Church who has been the first archbishop of the Archdiocese of Vaduz in Liechtenstein since 1998. He was Bishop of Chur in Switzerland from 1990 to 1997, after two years there as coadjutor. Early years Haas was born in Vaduz on 7 August 1948. He was ordained a priest and incardinated in Chur, Switzerland, on 7 April 1974. By 1988 he was chancellor of the diocese. Bishop of Chur Pope John Paul II appointed him coadjutor bishop of Chur–a diocese that covers several Swiss cantons and includes Zurich–on 25 March 1988, disregarding the candidates recommended by the senior clergy of Chur who traditionally propose candidates for the pope's approval. The Vatican had deemed those candidates unacceptable on political and theological grounds. Hermine Rheinberger
Hermine Rheinberger (July 14, 1864 – January 24, 1932) was a Liechtensteiner writer. With the publication of her 1897 historical novel ''Gutenberg-Schalun'', she became Liechtenstein's first female author. Biography Hermine Rheinberger was born in 1864 in Vaduz, the capital city of Liechtenstein. She was one of four children born to Peter and Theresi Rheinberger, growing up with two sisters and a brother, the artist and architect . Her uncle was the composer Josef Rheinberger. After attending elementary school in Vaduz, Rheinberger studied at the Institut Gutenberg in Balzers, run by the Sisters of Christian Charity, from 1877 to 1881. She became interested in literature and history at a young age, and she was supported in her literary pursuits by her brother and by her cousin Ferdinand Nigg. Josef Rheinberger
Josef Gabriel Rheinberger (17 March 1839 – 25 November 1901) was a Liechtensteiner organist and composer, residing in Bavaria for most of his life. Life Josef Gabriel Rheinberger, whose father was the treasurer for Aloys II, Prince of Liechtenstein, showed exceptional musical talent at an early age. When only seven years old, he was already serving as organist of the Vaduz parish church, and his first composition was performed the following year. In 1849, he studied with composer Philipp M. Schmutzer (31 December 1821 – 17 November 1898) in Feldkirch, Vorarlberg. In 1851, his father, who had initially opposed his son's desire to embark on the life of a professional musician, relented and allowed him to enter the Munich Conservatorium. Ida Ospelt-Amann
Ida Ospelt-Amann (15 February 1899 – 12 March 1996) was a Liechtensteiner poet who wrote in the Alemannic German, Alemannic dialect that is spoken in the Vaduz region. She is considered the most important of her country's dialect poets. Her works deal primarily with rural life, as well as with her home town of Vaduz, and its change over time. Biography Ida Amann was born in February 1899 to Franz Amann and his wife Elisabeth (née Burtscher). From 1905 to 1911 she attended elementary school and from 1911 to 1913 secondary school. Fabienne Wohlwend (born 7 November 1997 in Vaduz) is a female racing driver from Liechtenstein who competes in the W Series. Biography Formula 4 Wohlwend entered car racing in 2016, having been successful in junior karting in Liechtenstein and Switzerland. She debuted in the Italian F4 Championship with Aragón Racing, before a mid-season switch to DR Formula. She failed to qualify for the final at the first round in Misano (the series ran a unique format for said round after 41 cars entered a circuit with a capacity of 36) and, after the qualifying race system was abandoned, did not score any points during the course of the season - her best finish being an 11th place in the final race of the season at Monza. Peter Karl Jehle (born 22 January 1982) is a Liechtensteiner retired footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He spent most of his career with Vaduz, representing the club in both the Swiss Super League and the Challenge League. He also competed professionally in France and Portugal. Mario Frick (born 7 September 1974) is a Liechtensteiner retired professional footballer who is currently a manager for FC Luzern. He has earned 125 caps and scored a national record 16 goals for his country from his international debut in 1993 until his retirement in 2015. Mainly a striker, Frick was also deployed as a centre-back on occasion.
